For those of you driving up Friday morning from the Cape/Jackson area, there will be a gathering at I55 Biehle exit #123 at the Rhodes 101.  Kickstands up for Granite City at 6:00 AM.  We can stop in Festus for a splash before we head on into the city.  Anyone else along the way that wants to join in, let us know where to look for you.

I will be traveling to Kansas City on Friday, but will delay my departure if I can to make it to the services.

Is the expected time of the procession known?

Also, I don't cross the Mississippi much going East. Can someone confirm that the McKinley bridge is still closed to traffic?

Monty,
The McKinley is still closed. PSB is open however it has some lane closers due to resurfacing.
Coming East across the PSB should not be to bad Friday morning if you are coming from 40/64.
Most of the back-ups are going west into St. Louis. It may be a little longer ride but if you come across 270 at the chain of rocks bridge you will avoid downtown traffic. (also avoid RR crossings)Take the Hwy 203 Granite City exit. it is the second GC exit going east on 270. Take 203 to Maryville Rd an go left. Maryville rd. to Pontoon rd.

MOJO57,

Just got word, everything is fine with work and I will be there in the AM.

If there will be a cage, I can supply a case of water. I won't be able to bring it on the bike but I live about 1 mile from the Rally Point so if it is needed we can run back home with the cage and get it. Just let me know.

We attended the funeral of SGT Mennemeyer (he is my cousin). This was our first experience seeing the Patriot Riders. It was such an outstanding tribute to him and his service to our country. Thank you so much. We now have a motorcycle and have joined the Patriot Riders. Scotty & Nancy Miller

I received this card this week  addressed to the Patriot Guard.

"To the Patriot Guard,
Thank you so much for
your kind support during
this most difficult time
and thank you for the gifts.
What you do is so honorable
and much comfort for the
families of our fallen soldiers.
God Bless you,
Ramona Phillips and Sarah Mennemeyer"

It was an honor to rider for some one that had made such a impact on his home community. I have never seen so many citizens line the street, standing at attention for the flag and the fallen hero. To have the kind of respect of his home community Sgt. Mennemeyer had to be a special type of person. To see the fire service vechiles and the ems vechicles for the area show the prespect to this young man was OUTSTANDING.

I have to echo Dinger’s post above. I too was proud of my community on the turn out and the respect they paid this hometown hero. I think I speak for most if not all of Granite City in thanking the Patriot Guard for making Sgt. Mennemeyer’s funeral one of respect and honor. I am once again proud to be a part of this group. Thanks also to the Granite City and Madison County police along with the IL. Highway Patrol for making Sgt. Mennemeyer’s procession to Jefferson Barracks a safe one. What a professional job they did! For a time Friday afternoon highway 255 became Sgt. Steven P. Mennemeyer Memorial Highway. God Bless You Steven and may you now rest in peace as you lie in your place of honor among those who served before you.

For the first time in a long time, I was proud of my home town for the respect and honor that they showed for one of their own. I was proud to stand together with all riders and pay my respects to a young hero. Milt. Edrington (DINGER) Granite city.
