What an honorable man, I never met him personnally so I'm only going by the movie that portrayed him. Everything about him showed me he stood for honor, dignity, courage and above all he never quit. I believe he is not only a hero because he served his country but because of what he endured in order to do it in the way he wanted to. This country has lost more than an honorable man who served his country, it lost an example of what this country stands for. Honor, Dignity, Honesty, True Grit and Heart. YES BAIR, we would be honored to stand in silence for 1 minute on Saturday at Noon. What a wonderful idea for those of us who cannot be on the ride. STANDING BY TILL 12 NOON SATURDAY

Bair, I would like more than anything else at this point in my life to attend this mission. This is one man that deserves the utmost respect from all of us. I'm running every scenario around in my head trying to figure out how Trog and I can swing this to attend on Saturday...... Right now I'm not coming up with much to get us there. Time is of an essence and I've seem to run short of it. If we can't make this mission we will no doubt stand in silence at 12:00 noon on Saturday to show our respect to this GREAT MAN.....
Thanks Bair for that great idea, it eases my mind some to stand with you in silence to show our respect if we can't make the mission.
Its great men and women like the hero’s we honor and the people that love them so much that make up PGR………..
YEAH BAIR……. PGR ROCKS!!

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere else - it seems like there are several threads related to this most honorable man, but I haven't seen any actual staging times, etc. Did I miss it? I am trying to see if logistically I can make it up to Virginia but I can't find the info. I would appreciate my fellow PGR brothers' and sisters' direction. I will not be able to access the site until late tonight but I will check it out and see if someone has squared me away!
I appreciate all that the PGR stands for and extend my respect to each and every fellow member.
Thanks all,

This was posted on page 3 of this thread....
For our PGR from Hampton Rds, Virginia, North Carolina and the USA....
FYI, I hope to have a Ride Mission/Operationa Order disseminated and posted by Thurday Night (late most likely) or late Friday Morning (keep your fingers crossed). Just ensure you mark your calendar for Early Friday Evening and Late Saturday Morning (July 28/29).
I look forward to meeting and riding with you on our mission of Honor & Respect for Master Chief, and his family. For those of you who plan on making both phases of this mission (Friday night & Saturday), I'll be starting a thread in the Regional / Virginia Section for those of you PGR members that are willing to offer any accomodations to those who may be arriving from out of ther region. See this link: http://patriotguard.org/Forums/tabid/61/forumid/114/postid/167702/view/topic/Default.aspx (I hope that link works!)
Until then.... Regards,

JUST AN FYI FOR EVERYONE:
I just spoke with the base police and pass office at Little Creek Amphibious base; for those who will be attending the services at the base on their motorcycles, here are some things to make sure to consider: 1. must have a current military base decal 2. must have shatter proof eye protection 3. must have approved reflective device worn 4. must wear boots with heal 5. must wear FULL fingered gloves.
See you there tomorrow evening!

| It is men like MCPO Carl Brashear that make the USA the greatest country in the world. I had the extreme honor of meeting him at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station a few years ago. I am saddened by his passing but comforted by the fact that he left such a grand legacy. To his family I would say that the world is a better place because he was part of it. Sadly, the world is emptier today now that he has left it. I pray that the family will be comforted in this time of sadness by remembering a life well lived by a true American hero. |

Thanks Wescoot2! I apologize for the multiple postings, I think there is a server gremlin today. I've been having trouble - unless there are just so many folks on here today.
Will be waiting for more info - the sooner the better. I've got a small time frame to decide whether I can make it or not as I will have to find canine sitter if I think I can make it logistically.
Thanks again!

My condolences to the family and friends of Chief Brashear. When I was 'visiting' at Pearl Harbor dive tank in the early 70s there was a picture of the Chief in a place of honor for all who entered to see. He was held in very high esteem by all who knew him or knew of him.
As a fellow Kentuckian, I wish I had had the honor of meeting him - I condider it my loss not to have done so.
Rest easy, Chief; the watch is relieved.

To the family of Master Chief Brashear, know that thousands of Patriot Guard Rider members across our country and American patriots around the world grieve the loss of an American Hero; a hero of stature second to none! The sacrifice, dedication and personal conviction shown by THIS incredible man demonstrates to all men that which is honorable and right!
Word has begun to spread throughout our ranks to those unable to pay honor to the Master Chief with their physical presence at his service this weekend, that this Saturday at 1200 hours, we will pause wherever we are and bow our heads in remembrance of his life and his gift to the cause of Freedom. (BAIR, well done, sir! Awesome suggestion!)
We veterans, young and old, of EVERY service know in our heart of hearts that, when he entered the Gates of Heaven, those warriors gone before us were informed by the angels themselves shouting, "Atten---HUT! MASTER CHIEF ON DECK!"
Rest easy, sir. We have the watch. You will NEVER be forgotten!
To all our members attending, please ride proud, ride safe and May God watch over you, every one. |

| Phillip & I were classmates in the late eighties, in the Naval Aviation Depot Apprenticeship Program. His father, MCPO Carl Brashear was the guest speaker at our graduation ceremony. At the time, I didn't know what a great hero Phillip's father was. I do remember he gave a very moving speech. I do remember you, Phillip. You were always upbeat, happy, and most importantly, supportive of your fellow classmates. I am truely sorry to hear of the passing of your father. He was a great man and he is now with a great man, Our Lord. Best wishes to your family. Your Classmate and your friend, Roy Neilson |
