To All Patriot Guard Riders: We have three very special guests of honor riding in the motorcycle procession with us: Captain Damon's two children & their grandmother will ride on our motorcylces in the procession.

Captain Damon's son (12) remembers riding on the back of his dad's bmw and is very excited to ride in memory of his dad. His daughter (14) is just as excite to ride. As for grandma...she is finally realizing a life long dream!

This evening, The Maine State Captain (Mike), and 4 Maine Ride Captains (Asha, Christine, Joe & Steve) attended the service at the funeral home to pay our respects to Captain Damon and his family. We were honored to meet his wife, two children, and several members of the family. Our hearts and prayers remain with all of them.

May God's hedge of protection be about all of them and us as we all gather to honor Captain Damon and Support his family.

In honor of those who serve(d)

MISSION COMPLETE! Awesome mission. I will write up a formal ride report later. I just got home and I'm just too tired to piece my thoughts together appropriately or coherently.
I do want to thank you all for joining us today. Each of you exemplified just what it means to be a Patriot Guard Rider. Well done. I'll always be proud to ride with you and call you my friend. Ride safe and take care of each other. I will hopefully have the official ride report, complete with photographs, online by Monday.

Hey everyone,

Frist.. Hugs and thank you's to everyone. We had a lot of folks that were new and I thank you for standing honor with us. For our "old" timer.. just kidding... it was great to see you. I learned a whole new side of things being side lined off the scoot. First , I hate not having my scoot with all of you. It was so hard to watch all of you drive off and not be with you. All of you made me so proud today.

Mrs. Damon and family, what a great strong group you are. It was passed on to me that all of you would like to ride again. We are at your request, it would be an honor. Please remember we are all here for you, today, tomorrow and the future. God Bless you all.

I have to thank the Damon family for allowing us to honor their son, husband, father and brother. You are truly a great family.

During our down times, I had time to talk with some of the members that I don't usually get to talk to. It was a wonderful experience all around- both the Damon family and the PGR family. I'm proud to ride with (behind??) you every time!

I have 2 small flags that someone gave me that had been loaned to them. If someone will let me know who's they are, I'll get them back to you! As for the other stuff left in my car, Christine is now the proud holder of them!

I have Christine's x-tra helmet that Captain Damon's daughter used to ride my scoot with me! I believe Christine has the State Captain's stuff!

What an honor Mrs. Damon has bestowed on all of us...not only to invite us to stand in honor of her husband, but also she entrusted her two most precious children with us on our motorcycles today. I can not speak highly enough about her son and daughter. On such a sad day, they were such a joy; a pleasure to be around. I was humbled and honored to share a few minutes with both of them, shed a couple of tears with them and also shared a couple of laughs with them. They are two very young but amazing people in whom mom can only be proud of.

We had three other members of the family join us on our motorcycles too....Mrs. Damon herself, "grandma", and a niece. One other rider....a Freeport Freedom Lady - jumped on one our scoots too! Please note, I am purposely not posting names here. I can only speak on the daughter, since she rode on my motorcycle...

When everyone exited the church - they all gathered around the motorcycles as we suited up the Damon children for the second leg of the ride. Their class mates were all present and gathered around the two Damon children. As Rolling Thunder helped the son with his helmet, I quickly braided the long dark hair of the daughter & fastend it with my hair tie. Helemt, eye wear, & last...I offerred her my leather jacket this time! Whoola...Biker Babe! and beatuiful she is. Family & Friends voiced that they wished they had their cameras - so PGR pulled out a couple and took pictures of the children suited up. The class mates all gathered around the Damon children and were in awe that they got to ride on the Patriot Guard Motorcycles! Smiles were everywhere - young and old alike....if only for a few minutes...we saw them! When we pulled out of the church parking lot...with Mrs. Damon, the 2 children, niece & freedom Lady on our scoots, everyone clapped and cheered!

I hope and pray that we were able to bring a ray of sun shine to this sad day for Captain Damon's children: if only for the moments we rode together on the motorcycles - free with the wind in our faces. If it brought a moment reprieve to their precious little hearts & minds ...then we suceeded in our mission - in more ways than one.

(DO NOT POST PICTURES OF THE CHILDREN ON THIS SITE OR ANY OTHER......LEADERSIP WILL LET US KNOW IF HE OBTAINS PERMISSION FROM MRS. DAMON TO POST PICTUES)

Another mission. Replete with the ubiquitous tears from Heaven, and the other ones, too.
I would like to thank the Damon family for the privilege to stand in honor of their lost yesterday. I must echo the praise for the children there. It was heart warming to see their classmates there to support them. We will be defined by our children, and all parents of those there should be very proud.

My thanks, also, to all who attended yesterday; we couldn't have made the wall without you.

It was good being seen(?)

Thank You to the Damon family and friends for allowing us to Honor Patrick, and family. Thanks to the PGR riders who were able to attend, all the bikes and the flags are such a powerful visual (and aural) display of Honor.

Cruizer, great job on your first mission as PGR RC! Mike, Asha, Christine, and Little Joe, great job in providing leadership and support to Cruizer, and the rest of us! This really shows what teamwork and "Esprit De Corps" means.

I was pretty much dry-eyed until Pushboats walked over to Patrick's son riding on Little Joe's bike and gave him his PGR pin. Pretty soon others were giving up pins and souveniers to the family. Nice!

I do need to mention the Portland LEO on the MC. WOW, that Man was everywhere, and could he ride! I must have passed him 6 times at different intersections and I think he only went by me twice. (Need to figure out how he did that.) Then a tractor trailer pulled right into the middle of the procession and split everyone up. In no time that same LEO on the MC, was literally knocking on the door of the rig and telling him to pull over. I wonder what it is like to be driving down the road and all of a sudeen having someone knocking on the door. Maybe he will install a doorbell. Soon we were all back in uninterrupted formation.

BTW>>>On the way to staging almost everyone rode through a monsoon like downpour, thereby maintaining our unbroken record of riding in the rain. Go Maine Underwater Riders Group!

Thank you to the family of Captain Damon for involving the Maine PGR. It is our privilege to be brought into the circle of family and friends, and to be able to share in honoring the memory of our fallen friend and hero.

Maine PGR would also like to thank; the members of the military who participated in the memorial service, the Portland Police Dept for their excellent work in providing the escort and traffic control, the associates at the Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, and all others who worked anonymously behind the scenes providing coordination, communications, and support to the effort.

The results of your dedication to this tribute will remain in the memories of all who knew this great man, and hopefully made the day just a little easier for them.

Finally, I would like to thank our membership, and the riders from out of state who joined us, and who endured the early morning rain to be there with the Damon Family.

Job well done.
