our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this brave Hero. Little one know your mommy was a very special person and gave her all so others might live. Wish I could be there too, but I can't in person but know I will be there in spirit. Will be praying for you all for safe travel. |

ITINERARY UPDATE; Please take note, the following dates/times are PRELIMINARY and MAY CHANGE due to circumstances beyond our control.
ESCORT MISSION; This is still up in the air. I spoke with Jamie's father this am and there was a problem with some of the paperwork at Dover. As soon as the family knows more, they will relay info to me and I will have it posted ASAP.
VISITATION; Date/Time: June 13th from 3:30pm - 7:00pm at Linns Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave, Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Parking: PGR parking will be at the Pine View Elementary School which is directly across the street.
Directions: Come into Iowa Falls on Hwy 65 which is Oak Street in town. Turn WEST on Washington Ave which is the main east-west street through downtown. Cross the Iowa River bridge and continue west until you see the school on the north side of the street.
Lodging: There are two motels in town. I've been informed that there is alot of construction in the area so you may need to check for rooms in Waterloo, IA or Mason City, IA. American Inn..........(641)-648-4600 Super 8.................(641)-648-4618
HONOR MISSION: Date/Time; June 14th, 2006. Services are scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm at the United Methodist Church located at 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls IA
Rally Point; Initial rally point will be at the Wal-Mart parking lot located at 840 S. Oak St (Hwy 65 S.) beginning at 10:30am. Mission and Safety brief will be at 11:45 am. Make sure you are fully fueled at this time.
Services; At NO LATER THAN 12:00 noon we will proceed as a group to Estes City Park which is approximately 2 blocks from the church. Estes Park is located at the corner of Stevens St and Rocksylvania Ave. This is where we will dismount, assemble flags and proceed on foot to the church. The First Baptist Church on the parks north east side will be open restroom use and information. Hy Vee will be providing bottled water. NOTE: Due to the limited parking, please DO NOT go directly to the church. There should be ample parking for bikes/cars at the park. Iowa Falls PD will be blocking off part of Stevens St on the east side of the park for this purpose.
CONCLUSION OF SERVICES: At the conclusion of services, the PGR will proceed back to Estes Park and prepare for the procession to Alden Cemetary in Alden, IA. With limited space at the Alden Cemetary, we may limit the number of bikes continuing past Alden and on to the cemetary itself. Instructions will be given at the rider's meeting.
Once again, please monitor this closely as the dates may change depending on Jamie's arrival in DSM.
Ride safe,

I am in Hampton, IA which is 20 miles North of Iowa Falls. My husband and I will be attending the visitation mission. Work schedules won't allow us to do the funeral mission.
There are three motels in Hampton, which is closer to Iowa Falls than Mason City or Waterloo.

I am definitely going to make the honor mission. I'll be leaving South Minneapolis at about 0700, and taking the freeway most of the way. Still have to get out a map to see the best way to get a southbound road connecting I35 with S20, but I doubt there will be a problem there. My spiritual persuasion is Zen, so I am quite content to do a solitary ride if others have different times/routes in mind.
I found out today that one of my co-workers, former USMC, knew HM2 Jaenke well. Just adds to the motivation I already had to do what we do -- ride with respect.

For people coming from the north down I-35 I can suggest 2 routes. You can exit the interstate near Latimer, IA, turn east on Hwy 3 to Hampton. Then turn south on Hwy 65 straight to Iowa Falls. Unless someone knows different, I don't believe there are any delays on this route. You could also exit I-35 on the south side of Mason City on Hwy 18 east, then take hwy 65 south. From what I have been told, the only repaving is occuring on the short 5 miles from Iowa Falls to US 20.

| Just a note on directions on people coming from the north, is continue on I-35 so. to Latimer/hwy 3 exit, go east approx. 9 miles to co. rd. S-41 you can only go south, 15 miles and your in Iowa Falls, approx. 13 miles you'll hook up with hwy 65. I was on it last wk-end and there was no const. this route is quicker and shorter then going thru Mason City or Hampton. Just for your info. |

ITINERARY UPDATE:
ESCORT MISSION; PO Jaenke is scheduled to arrive in DSM at 5:55pm on Tuesday, June 13th. Our preliminary rally point will be at or near the intersection of 85th St (Fluer Dr) and Hwy 5. Please be there at 6:00pm fully fueled & ready. We will line up and fall in behind the military vechile which will be preceeded by a family vehicle, the hearse and an LEO. The route is planned for Hwy 5 east to US 65 north, I-80 west, then a short distance to I-35 north. We will turn off I-35 at US 20 east to US 65 north (pending construction) into Iowa Falls and Linns Funeral Home.
NOTE: If the plane is delayed or other problems with this part of the mission come up, we may end up running interstate speeds in darkness. Please be prepared with the appropriate gear. If you are an inexperienced rider or unconfortable with interstate speeds at night, please reconsider riding this portion of the mission. Safety is equal in priority as respect.
We should have a hard confirmation from the military and LEOs by 10:00 am, June 13th.
Ride safe,

JUNE 14TH IS FLAG DAY - very appropriate.
I will be at the Wednesday service also. John Boy's route suggestion looks to be the most direct, thanx. Bagwaji (South Mpls.) and rel (Elk River), I'll be e-mailing you off-board about possibly meeting up for the ride.
Question for Preacher - since the Tuesday visitation had to be cancelled, has the family possibly considered visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday? If so, it would change our mission start time. Pat in West St. Paul, MN |

The last word I received from the funeral director is that no times have changed on Wed, the 14th. If we maintain our time schedule, we should easily be in place in front of the church by 12:30.
We will make final confirmations with the family, funeral director, military liason and LEOs tommorrow morning. Final itinerary will be posted by 12:00 tommorrow.

| I share in the pain of the loss of such a young life; a mother, daughter and grandaughter. Although I never knew Jaime, we shared a love of horses, and I know her grandparents well. The sparkle in their eyes when they talked of Jaime makes her loss so tragic. I received that terrible visit nearly 14 years ago, and pray that the family knows that memories, time, and the support of others will help them through this time of despair, doubt, anger and sadness. God bless Jaime and God strengthen her family. Taz-man |

Many thanks to the locals with their tips on routes from the Northland. As has happened with other missions, I am REALLY starting to feel what we all should feel about Jaime's sacrafice as we prepare..... That is what I have learned is "normal" as the mission gets closer. Lets all remember that the mission is respect. I hope we are totally focused especially on the portion of the mission where the mourners are arriving, and of course at the end of the funeral. We are making a TINY sacrafice compared to the fallen -- so keep in mind its not about us at all.
Also many thanks to the captains and officers that are keeping us together in this.
We are riding for the fallen remember who they fell for it was for their comrades and for us |
