Terry Smith, Ride Captain San Antonio, will be the lead Ride Captain for this mission.
No further information about the mission is available at this time. Terry will be posting the ride and staging information as soon as it is known.
The PGR riders in San Antonio and the surrounding area are known for their turnout in support of a fallen Hero. I know all that can, will stand tall and silent to honor Capt Funkhouser and that all will keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I met with a young soldier from Michigan yesterday in the burn unit at Brookes Army Medical Center (BAMC) at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. He deployed with Capt. Funkhouser, his CO, from Ft. Hood some 6 months ago and was on what is being called 'The CBS Mission' on which Capt. Funkhouser was killed. The young soldier could not say enough good things about Capt. Funkhouser and the way he treated his soldiers. He, along with a roomate at BAMC, who was also on the mission, are hoping against some pretty high odds, that they will be able to attend Capt. Funkhouser's services.
Thank you for your brave, unselfish service, Capt. Funkhouser, and thank you for treating the soldiers under your command with dignity, respect and trust. We will be there to honor your service, to express our thanks, and to comfort your family in whatever small way we can. |

Initial Itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor Cpt. James Funkhouser, Katy, TX Service in San Antonio Tx.
This is the initial itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor Capt. James Funkhouser, Katy TX, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Baghdad, Iraq. The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made. Please keep track for any changes! Up to Final.
Services: The service will be graveside at the Ft. Sam National Cemetery Pavilion #4
Time: is not yet confirmed but tentative for 08:30 9 June 2006
Ride Captains: Terry Smith (Hawgr60) and Brad Pierce (Hawkeye62). Their cell numbers are (210) 355-2647 (Hawgr) and (210) 391-3151 (Hawkeye).
Staging Site and Time: From 0800 to 0845 hours at Stacy’s Sports Bar (1033 Rittiman Road) parking lot. Located on the north side of Rittiman Road, Stacys Sports Bar is 1.3 miles west of I 35 (EXIT 164A) in San Antonio, TX.
Weather Report: Mostly Sunny with a morning low 72 and a daytime high of 99 degrees. However, this is Texas and the weather is subject to change. Dress accordingly with copious amounts of sun block for your own protection, and hydration is of the utmost importance so bring water.
Bring flag poles and flags if you have them. Flags mounted on bikes would be great, but if you have to "cage" it, bring your big flags anyway, plus any extras that you may have. Staging Site and Time: From 0730 to 0800 hours at Stacy’s Sports Bar (1033 Rittiman Road) parking lot. Located on the north side of Rittiman Road, Stacy’s Sports Bar is 1.3 miles west of I 35 (EXIT 164A) in San Antonio, TX. From this location it is less than a 5 minute ride into the cemetery. KSU 0800 following safety Brief
Departure : All members are requested to complete the Liability Releases prior to safety briefing. The safety briefing will begin at 0750 hrs. Departure (KSU) from staging point will commence at 0800 hrs. All bikes will present a uniform appearance as we ride approximately 1mile to the in a staggered formation.
Please note: Remain flexible as to mission requirements during the day.
Please remember that our mission is to honor this fallen soldier and pay our respects to his family. Stand tall and be proud as we salute an American hero. |

From Columbus, take I-10 West to San Antonio.
Take Loop 410 North (right) towards Ft. Sam Houston.
Travel north for about 3.6 miles, and then take the exit for Rittiman Rd.
Make a Left on Rittiman Rd and travel approx. 1.5 miles west on Rittiman to the staging area at the Sports bar.
