I want to thank you all for your support of SPC Gonzalez. I am a member of his unit and will be attending all three functions. God Bless you and your families for all that you do. Reading the posts and seeing the response and support that his two families, blood and military will recieve is overwhelming to me. It brought a tear to my eye, the first ones I have shed since hearing of his death. I remember being at Fort Leonard Wood, MO when Master Sgt. Wilberto Sabalu Jr. was brought home, lining the streets with my unit and the companies of the US Army Military Police School watching the Patriot Guard escort him on his final ride. It filled me with chills and a very large sense of pride that there are so many people willing to give of their time to help respect and honor the memories of my fallen brothers and sisters. I hope to meet as many of you that will be there as possible. Thank you and God Bless.

Heaven Bless you Stephen for your service and dedication.

Usually at a time like this I struggle for words to comfort a friend who has suffered a loss. The right words don’t often come, but if accompanied by the right sentiment they can be soothing. But I have learned over time that the best comfort at a time like this comes from those who watch over us. My beliefs allow me to be comforted by a certainty that I am watched over by those who have gone before me.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Spc. Michael L. Gonzalez,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

MISSION UPDATE AS OF THURSDAY EVENING

As of 1730 on Thursday evening, here is the latest on this mission. Tropical Storm Hannah is still churning in the Caribbean. Forecasters are now predicting it will start to have some affect mid to late afternoon on Saturday. This mission will take affect Saturday morning. Monitor the weather, and be prepared for some possible wet weather in advance of the storm. The Staging area will be set by late tonight or tomorrow morning. If the weather Saturday morning is less than perfect, grab the rain gear. Safety first will be the rule of the day. If you feel it is not safe to ride, caging is okay. I would rather have a bunch of cagers at the staging area than not have a good turnout for SPC. Gonzalez. I have verified that he was indeed on the field with us at Ft. Dix, and that makes it personal for me. The reason the family wanted us for their son was because they saw us at Ft. Dix, and they felt that since we helped send him off, we should be there to welcome him home. Final staging information and ride itineraries to follow.

***************MISSION UPDATE FOR FRIDAY MORNING***********************

SATURDAY'S INFORMATION

1). Leadership - The Lead Ride Captain for this ride will by Ray Smith. Our local Ride Captain for this mission will be Don Klein.

2) Staging Information - We will be staging at the Center 18 Shopping Center, Rt. 18 and Hillsdale Road, East Brunswick, NJ. We may or may not have LEO support for the ride to the church. I'm working on that now. Riders should expect to be at the staging area around 0945. KSU from the staging area will be at 1015 sharp to ensure our flag line is set by 1030. We will not be doing an escort for this mission. We will proceed from the staging area to the Spotswood Reformed Church, 429 Main Street, Spotswood, NJ. All riders will go directly to the staging area, not to the church.

3) Weather - Forecast is for some wind and rain possible. It will probably depend on where we are relative to the storm. Wet weather gear will be the dress code of the day. Each rider should decide on whether they should cage or ride on Saturday morning. Check the weather on Saturday morning and act accordingly. I will provide an update on Saturday morning as far as mission status and the weather.

********************RIDE ITINERARY FROM THE NORTH*********************

Ray Smith will be staging at the Home Depot and will provide his ride itinerary later today. I will meet anyone who wants to ride at the Bergen County Harley and will do a KSU from there at the same time Ray leaves from Home Depot and we will meet up at the Brookdale Service Area south of exit 153 on the Garden State Parkway Southbound side.

Southern Ride Captains will be providing their ride itineraries later today.

Final Message

This mission is going to be very fluid. Riders need to check back often as weather issues may throw some changes at us. At the end of the day, the family and the town are anxious to have our participation, and we will provide our services in the professional manner we are known for. Thank you in advance for everyone who makes this mission. For the next 24 hours, it's all about SPC. Gonzalez and his family.
