Semper Fi, Marine -- your mission is complete. For the family -- heroes like Christian are a tribute to the family in which they were raised. A piece of him will remain in every Marine whose life he touched; he'll never be really gone, just spread out among his fellow Marines for all time. My sincerest condolences in this tough time.

Cpl Cotner, you are so very deeply appreciated. You stand now a hero at heaven's gates, along with all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Christian, and know that you will never be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. To the family and friends of Corporal Christian Cotner....

My name is Christian Haerter and on April 22nd, 2008 I lost my son Marine Lance Corporal Jordan Christian Haerter to a VBIED in Ramadi.   I know what pain you are experiencing right now and please know that my heart is breaking for you.  Nothing can be more devestating than losing a child but try to take some comfort in the fact that he was doing what he chose to do on his terms.  The pride that you feel for him and the memories that you have will never leave you and can never be taken away.

When you look at the Patriot Guard Riders lined up in honor of your son tomorrow holding their flags so proudly, you must realize that none of us are merely there for show and that the tears we shed are profoundly real and truly heartfelt.

Once again, I am so sorry for your tragic loss......
