SGT Lance O. Eakes earned my respect and gratitude when he volunteered to serve our country as a citizen-soldier. His efforts to make the world a safer place will be remembered with honor and appreciation by this American family. We are praying for all of those in the 1132nd Military Police Company.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends. You are in our prayers during this time of sorrow.

It will be my privilege to stand silently, with respect, to honor this North Carolina hero.

For the family and friends of Sgt Eakes, May God Bless and comfort you, it is my prayer that He surronds you with his devine grace and peace ... it is my hope that you see in us the gratitude of a grateful nation for your whole family's service and sacrifice to, and for, our nation, and our humility and thankfulness that men like Lance are willing to serve our nation even in the face of having to pay the ultimite price of our freedoms, and the hopes and future promise of humanity ... Lance's passing shall not go unnoticed, or unmourned ... it shall certainly be respected with honor and humility ... May Lance find his peace and joy now in heaven ... We ask now Lord that you hold Lance close, for he is dearly missed here on earth ...

Sgt Eakes, you are very truly appreciated. You stand now a hero at heaven's gates, along with all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Lance, and know you will never be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom
