I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American Hero who stood tall for his homeland in this very sad time in your lives, but remember that you knew a hero first hand while the rest of us just get to hear about their heroic deeds. My prayers are that our GOD may bring peace and comfort to all of you during this tragic time. Please know that not just me , but a country full of people like me owe you a debt that can never be repaid. But please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our LORD in heaven, and the LORD said if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. Know that it says in the Bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 , we are confident I say , willing rather to be absent from the body and present with the LORD. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a HERO, they were willing to serve that the rest of us may enjoy the freedom we do today, and the sacrifice you and your family have endured so our nation can remain the home of the free because of the brave. We are all brothers and sisters in arms and we don't forget one of our own, rest in peace my comrade, your mission is complete and now it's time for you to rest. May GOD Bless each and everyone of you.

IMPORTANT CHANGE

Due to the weather, Pvt Smith's plane has been diverted from the Berlin, NH airport to the Portland, ME airport. The latest information is that the plane will be arriving around noon today (Friday).

A man's country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle; and patriotism is loyalty to that principle.

Our heart felt condolences to the Smith family and friends in the loss Tyler. Thank you for his service to this great country. Our prayers go out to God for you in this time of loss. Tyler served to give us the freedom we now enjoy so much and for that he is one of the GREAT AMERICAN HEROS of the land. God bless your family and friends. Wish I could have shaken his hand and told him thank you myself. God tells us that “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) As Christ our Lord laid down His life for us that believe in Him for salvation, so your love one has laid down his life for us for our freedom. This act has made him a Super Hero in my heart and I thank-you deeply for this sacrifice made for our freedoms. I pray that God will now bless your lives and help you see how great a thing this is which your loved one has done. The FALLEN MILITARY MEMBER has shown this country their greatest love for country and friends

I suppose, in a way, this has become part of my soul. It is a symbol of my life. Whatever I have done that really matters, I've done wearing it. When the time comes, it will be in this that I journey forth. What greater honor could come to an American, and a soldier?

Today's escort started out at 6:15 when we met at the funeral home in Oxford, Me. Carl, Joe Pipen
Bunny and I were there to go to the airport to meet Pvt Smith's plane. We headed out at
6:30 for Bethel to meet up with the family. When we arrived in Bethel the family was alittle late
which helped another PGR member (Mariel) to catch up with us. We headed out to Berlin, NH
in the snow. When we arrived in Berlin they told us because of the weather the plane had
been diverted to the Portland Jetport. So we loaded up and headed to Portland. When we
arrived in Portland there were other PGR members there to meet us (Larry, Lisa, Jim, Ann, and Tim)
We had to wait about an hour but Pvt Smith landed. The state police showed up and led the
escort back to Oxford. Thanks everyone for a great job today.

You are very much appreciated, Pvt Smith. You stand now a hero at heaven's gates, along with all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Tyler...you have completed your selfless mission here, and you will not be forgotten, ever.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. Thanks to all of you who showed up today at Pvt. Smith's visiting hours. At one visitation we had about 19 PGR members. Family and Friends of Pvt. Smith say thank you. The family expressed their appreciation to John and I and wanted to make sure everyone knew how much it meant to them. Several cars stopped on the main road and told the Oxford Fire Dept personnel directing traffic to please send condolences to the family. So tonight we passed that onto the family. They are overwhelmed with the support. So, Pvt. Smith, rest in peace, you are an American Hero. Your sacrafice will never be forgotten.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Pvt.Tyler J. Smith, Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Arriving at the first staging area (Oxford Plaza) it was cold and windy. However
there were two PGR there alsready. As we got closer to leaving about 10 of us
were there. After a mission briefing we split into two groups. The main group
headed to Bethel to meet with other PGR at the second Staging area. The rest
of us went to the funeral home to help escort Pvt Smith and his family to Bethel.
It started snowing pretty heavy right before we left for Bethel, however the
State Police showed up and we headed out to the church. When we arrived in
Bethel at the church the flag line was in place to honor Pvt Smith and his family.
We maintained a flag presentation outside the church throughout the service.
After the service the PGR in the escort helped escort Pvt Smith and his family
back to Oxford. He will be laid to rest at a later date, and we have been
invited to honor him at this time. I would like to thank the 15 PGR who showed
up in the cold and snow to honor this soldier and his family. The family wanted
me to extend their sincere gratitude for our unwavering commitment to honoring
their son. From picking him up at the airport to standing the flag line late into
Sunday night until they left the funeral home, and standing in the snow and cold
on Monday during the church service. I would also like to thank everyone for
showing up on Monday. Some of you drove long distances to honor this soldier
and I thank you.
