SSG Close,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. You are truly an American hero and the world in which we live is a safer place because of your commitment to freedom. We will now proudly stand for you with honor, dignity, and respect.    Police escort for the entire journey to the National Cemetery has now been confirmed.  Weirton City Police will escort to the WV/PA state line where we will be met by a unit of the PA State Police and, possibly, the Washington County Sheriff's Department.  We will also be escorted through the townships of Burgettstown, Hickory and Cecil by their respective police departments.
Respects,
Joe

My family extends our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Alanna Close. My family and I thank Alanna for her service and sacrifices. I must second a previous entry - Heaven must have needed another hero.

Rest in peace Sargent, rest in peace.

My birth father served in Europe to defeat the Nazis in WWII. He earned the Purple Heart by being wounded in his third escape attempt after being captured.
My 'adopted' father, the man who raised me, was wounded twice in the same action in Korea. And according to his buddies even that didn't stop him.

********************MISSION COMPLETE*******************************

I want to thank all who attended SSgt Close's service today under somewhat less than favorable conditions.

Again, the family was overwhelmed by our presence. It was good to be there for them. They were so appreciative of our showing of support.

Joe, Barry, Thanks again for service above and beyond. You guys are always there ready to lend a valuable helping hand.

Thanks to all the local and state LEO's who escorted us to the cemetery. It was very well co-ordinated among all of you. Hats off to each and every one.

To the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, Thank you. You made it easy to give SSgt. Close the dignified service she deserved. Job well done!

Most of all, thank you to each and every one who stood our flag line. I know it was cold, but just like always you showed your true patriotic American hearts. I salute you all.

FYI, we ended up with about 14 members in about 8 cages. Thanks, guys and gals. I appreciate it.

Ride safe,
Ron J.
