I wish to add a clarification to the posting - Sgt Bowen will have funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery.

It is anticipated that he will also have a Memorial Service in Marion, IN and we in IN are pursuing that at present.

Collin God Bless you and your family and you will be missed - BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!

In January, the men and women of the PGR in South Carolina stood in Lyman SC, conducting a Mission of Honor for SGT Shawn Hill.  During the planning of that mission we learned of SSG Bowen who was injured in the same IED attack that killed SGT Hill.

Since that time many of us have followed the heroic fight of 'our' Staff Sergeant.  There for a while I thought this tough Soldier would beat the odds.  He was terribly injured but within him was a warrior spirit the likes of which is rarely seen.  Collin Bowen fought hard.  With his family around him each day he fought a tremendous fight.

I do not cry very often.  I cried Friday morning when I learned that Collin's struggle had ended.
My heart breaks for his wife, his little girls, his entire family.  I feel like I know them all.  I've been privileged to 'listen' to the banter between siblings and feel the deep yearning of a Mom and Dad.  Collin's wife has shared some stories that made me admire this Staff Sergeant, not just for the job he did or the uniform he wore.  This man was quite a man.  This loss is an awful loss.

Godspeed Staff Sergeant.  You are a hero.  We are in your debt.  Now, rest from your struggles.

SSG Bowen fought a heroic battle to overcome his injuries. He is now at Peace, with a new body that has no pain, no scars. His family and friends must now "fight the fight" and carry on, every day without Collin. You will forever be in my thoughts and prayers Bowen Family. And Collin will NEVER be forgotten! I will care him with me always, as a HERO who gave his life for MY Freedom.
