Major Green, we thank you for your service and dedication to our country as you were helping to protect the freedom and liberties we have come to expect.  The ultimate sacrifice you have made shall never be forgotten by those who remain behind.  May the Good Lord welcome you with open arms as you approach the Gates of Heaven.

May you family and friends take comfort in knowing you now rest among the Angels in Heaven, continuing to watch over them each and every day.

I cannot speak for the family, but reading all of these posts has made me realize that even in death you folks could sense the type of person Michael Green was. Michael and I were roommates in Hattiesburg, MS while he was stationed at Camp Shelby training men about to go into battle. I was not in the military but were good friends from his home town on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was like a brother I never had, his policy was "what is mine is yours", and he would have given me the shirt off his back if I needed it. We enjoyed cooking and drinking wine, playing golf, eating at Buffalo Wild Wings while watching a game, smoking cigars, and playing all kinds of computer, playstation, or xbox games. I miss his outlook on life, his positive attitude toward any situation, his caring heart especially for children, his cooking!, and most especially his friendship. He meant a lot to my girlfriend and me, he was always sure to check on us even when out of the country. I know the family would thank all of you for the wonderful things you have said. There is not enough I can say about Michael other then he had the most wonderful soul you would ever want to meet. Michael's services are Saturday January 19th; he is to be buried at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.

My most hearfelt condolences go out to the family of MAJ Michael Green. You will be in our prayers. Nothing we can say will ease your pain.

The following is an excerpt from a letter President Lincoln sent to the mother of five soldiers killed in the Civill War:

"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

A. Lincoln"

To all who have posted here for Michael,
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your condolences and for those who have offered to stand for Michael when we lay him to rest. I have only known Michael for a small amount of time, yet in that time he became one of the most amazing men I ever had the honor of knowing. I wish everyone had had the chance to know him.
Michael died doing what he loved. He has wanted to be in the Army since he was a small boy and he was honored to go serve his country. This was his calling! The people who love him have found some comfort in knowing this, altho!ugh nothing will truly ease the pain of losing our friend, brother, son, and uncle.
I can not thank you enough for showing your support and respect to the fallen Soldiers. Your efforts mean the world.
God's blessings!

Lord, please comfort and grant your peace that surpasses all human understanding to the family and friends of Maj. Michael L. Green, United States Army.  Amen.  This brave man answered the call of his country and his sacrifice will not be forgotten.  Take heart in that there are many Americans, many who have never met him, honoring Maj. Green for his courage and his service to this nation.  There are also many Americans, and again many who do not know Michael or your family, praying for you right now.  Call upon the Lord and He will strengthen you during this time of great loss.  1 Samuel 7:5...I will pray for you unto the Lord.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of , a TRUE AMERICAN HERO. Our freedoms have been protected by all these great people that put on the uniform and volunteer to stand up for us. Many years of shedding tears have gone by and unfortunately we will shed more. One thing for certain though, we will have today’s heroes to thank for allowing us to live in such a great nation. Too sad others can’t see the light. Our soldiers are the greatest bunch of people on this earth and as we move forward we owe a special thanks to them and their families. Without the family support it is hard to have such Great Americans. “You Will Never Be Forgotten”
