To the Family of SFC John J. Tobiason
May God comfort your hearts and his soul be at peace. He has my thanks and respect for his dedication and bravery that cost him the ultimate sacrifice, May God Bless you all!!
I know this is a terrible loss to your family and I grieve with you, if it weren’t for brave men and women that were willing to stand up for what they believe in, then all would be lost. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

I had worked with John at a Mall of America, where he use to take work for a locker company.
He was a great guy, always had something fun to say. Always cracking jokes.

John, will miss you bro.

I'd like to thank those who came out in the cold, and on Thursday the snow, to stand on the flag line. You people rock! I can't tell you how fantastic it is to see y'all show up at the staging areas. Especially now that it's winter. The people attending the services were impressed by your dedication. I just can't find the words to say how proud I am of y'all. Those in leadership who attended, you always strive to do your best and make each mission run as smooth as possible. I'm proud to be associated with you. Your dedication is outstanding. The Patriot Guard Riders are some of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure to know. And I'm always honored to stand next to you in the flag line.

Mission Complete for Sgt. 1st Class John J. Tobiason

25+ PGR members were in attendance for the Visitation for SFC Tobiason, I spoke with the Bother ans Sister and they could not thank us enough for being there. The Sister recognized the Navy Strips on my Vest and shared stories about there Dad and his 27 yrs in the Navy and Reserves, said haven't seen the Navy strips in a long time. John's mom came around to each of us and put her hands across her heart and shook our hands, thanking us for being there. at the end there were 2 nieces that came down the line and said thank you.

Command Sergent Major for the 88th Regional Readiness Command (7States) Thank the PGR for what we do for all the Services members. He also Informed us that he lost his Son in Irac 1.5 years ago. I gave our condolences and thanked them for there sacrifice.

Deputy Commanding General 88th RSC (1 Star) thanked the PGR for being there and giving SFC Tobiason and his family the knowledge that we care.

30+ PGR members were in attendance for the Services and a few mor joined us at Fort Snelling for the Interment. 20 plus Services members in attendance Joined us for the Movement of SFC Tobiason to the Coach where we rendered honors, The Family then had a Lunch, Was invited, but with tradition of the PGR politely declined, ans stated this was the time for Family and Friends.

A large Group from the American Legion was present for the service and part of the Honor Guard at Fort Snelling. Honors were given for Sgt 1st Clas John J. Tobiason.
The Family passed on there thanks for being there, and it means more than words can say.

Tim and I had the opportunity to talk with John's Battle Buddy, States that they had a lot of plans, and it was not John's time, shared a few stories about there friendship and plans. "did not want to leave his Buddy JJ". They both had the same initials

Kasson Service

Ms. Tobiason was held in the sanctuary with the Blue Star Mothers, including Tom Wellers wife, to sadly present her with her Gold Star. I wanted to wait to dismiss the flag line until she had left the Sanctuary, then the Narthex, to the Fellowship Hall, before we dismissed the flag line. Well, she entered the Narthex, in plain site of us through the large glass entry to the church. We all watched as she gave hugs to friends and family, and then we watched as she turned to look out at us, all at attention, looking in with flags held high. She walked over to the glass, tears streaming down her face, as they are mine as I write this. She crosses her hands over her chest as she mouthed "Thank You" to us. I can guarantee there was not a cheek without frozen tears in the 14 of us standing outside. I tried to come up with some great words for the members after she walked into the Fellowship Hall. Something to the fact of "'Riders, we've stood outside in the bitter cold all day, and her simple actions have warmed our hearts, more than words could ever express" I think all I got out of it was "That right there, is why we do what we do, Thank You"

Thank You SFC John J. Tobiason, Your Mission is Complete, Rest in Peace

It was Our Honor Matt

My name is Matt Petersen and my cousin SFC John Tobiason was killed while serving our country in Iraq last month. With the many emotions that follow an incident such as this anger, sadness, rage and revenge we some time overlook the others happiness, hugs, laughter and smiles. Even after finding my way back to the happy times I forgot to remember my feeling of pride, not just for John but for my God and my Country. Arriving at his visitation I was reminded of the true meaning of pride, seeing the line of Patriot Guard Riders standing steadfast in the cold flying our Countries colors in a unified show of respect for a man they never knew for it was that moment I remembered pride. I was proud of my cousin, proud for his service to our Country, proud for the man he became and most of all proud I was able to say he was my cousin. The fact that you and your troops take the time to honor these fallen soldiers not matter what the time of year or what the weather may bring shows us what the true meaning of pride is. I thank you each and every one of you not just for the service you provided SFC John Tobiason but for helping me remember what I had forgotten. I wish you all continued health and safety on your future missions so that you may continue to remind us of pride, honor and respect. Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to all of those who took part in the services for SFC John Tobiason in Bloomington, Fort Snelling and Kasson, MN
