Mission Accomplished:

09/18/2007 a beautiful turn out of about 40, showed up to escort Sgt. Nick Hopper to the MA Neal funeral home, even though the escort from the airport to the funeral home had been cancelled there was still an awesome turn out to show support for this young marine and his family, I thank you all for attending and showing the honor and respect that you know how to do on this beautiful evening, the ride captains did an outstanding job setting up flags around the property of the funeral home, the family was very happy about our presence.

09/20/2007 Visitation: at 3:00pm we started sitting up the flag line for the visitation of Sgt. Nick Hopper, we had about 5 PGR members standing proud and then out of no where a few more rolled in and this was a beautiful evening not too hot, not too cold, Ronni presented the Linus blanket to Nick's son and we stood proud and we ended up with about 30 members standing the flag line on this evening to honor Sgt. Nick Hopper, the members in the flag line did an awesome job and I thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to show this respect to a soldier, a Marine that will be greatly missied by many.

09/21/2007 Funeral: PGR members gathered at the funeral home around 7:30am to set up another beautiful flag line and to do the 2 hor escort to Camp Butler in Springfield Illinois, again we had a beautiful morning, the flag line was set in place as family and friends started heading in for the 8:30am service, during the service I received word that the funeral director advised that all riders for the PGR were to ride behind everyone else during the escort, I advised them that this is not what was planned with the family and that our goal was to be ahead of the percession so that we could be set up with our flags before Sgt. Nick Hopper was brought out so that we could salute and show our respect, the funeral home then told me that they would allow 6 riders to lead in front of the hearse, I agreed and I called all the riders together and explained that there was now a change in plans, so I then asked for all except 6 big flag bikes to head to Camp Butler 3o minutes prior, we all went ahead to Springfield and set up our flag line with honor at the cememtery the wind blew the flags straight out and it was beautiful, when they arrived Ride Captain Jim Storck called PGR to attention and presented arms, at the end of the service Ride Captain Jim Storck, and Ride Captain Jerry Vail presented the flags and plaque to the family of Sgt. Nick Hopper, I also want to thank Rose who is always very good about copying the condolences from the website and giving them to the family, she presented them with Jim and Jerry. I thank all those who attended I think it was a great turn out for a Friday morning service, those of you who took vacation, took a personal day, or just dropped what you were doing so that you could be there for support, you are all great people and I am truely proud to stand and ride beside you. Thank you

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve --is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact.
