A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

It was an Honor to stand the flag line with fellow members of PGR. SSgt Reynolds has done his duty and now I hope his family will seize the moment and fulfill the dreams he had for them.

Safely home around 2115.  Most enjoyable and satisfying 485 mile ride I've ever done in one day.  Too tired to do a mission report this evening.  Will post one tomorrow, unless Jack beats me to it.
Respects,
Joe

              ******************MISSION COMPLETE*****************

Please excuse my tardiness for filing our ride report but my brain, as well as my body, was slightly "overtaxed" after a very long day.

Nine Patriot Guard Riders assembled at the designated staging area on a bright but cool Sunday morning in Princeton, WV.  We welcomed one (Angel) on her first mission and a relatively new member (Jerry) who had participated in the escort on Saturday.  To ALL who attended, please accept my sincere "Thank You" for taking time out of  your busy life to stand in Honor and Respect of SSgt Reynolds and his family.

We set up our flag line(s) on both the front and back entrances to the funeral home at 1200 and maintained those lines until approximately 1500, when we departed for the cemetery.  We did not, unfortunately, participate in the escort as we felt the entrance to the cemetery would be too hazardous for bikes to attempt to navigate.  Thus, we proceeded early in order to set our lines at the entrance.  Upon arrival, however, we decided to proceed up to the gravesite anyway.  What a beautiful, secluded cemetery they chose as SSgt Reynolds' final resting place!

We maintained our flag line as the Honor Guard from Ft. Knox removed SSgt Reynolds from the hearse.  As always, a very sharp, orderly and respectful group of young soldiers performed their mission flawlessly.  We then moved to the back of the cemetery as graveside services were conducted, then quietly mounting up for our departure.

Special thanks goes out to Garfield Kirk of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home and to the two CAO's (Sgt Sanders from Alaska and Sgt Scarbrough from West Virginia) for working with me and our RC, Jack Kalmar, so closely.  Without your efforts, it would not have been possible for us to carry out our mission.  Thank you gentlemen!

A special "Thank you" goes out to our "Temporary" Ride Captain for this mission, Jack Kalmar.  I used quotation marks because he was only temporary for this mission; he will be our newest Permanent Ride Captain.  An excellent job in setting this up Jack.  Thank you very much for the time and effort you put into doing this as you handled it just like you'd been doing it for years.

Thank you, again, to all Patriot Guard Riders for your attendance on Saturday and Sunday, both.  Your presense did NOT go unnoticed by the family and friends of SSgt Reynolds.

To Jill, Katelyn, Kristan and Emily; may you all find healing in God's mercy at this most difficult time in your lives.  It is my sincere hopes that you find a measure of comfort in knowing that your Husband and Father is watching over you from his rightful place among the Angels in Heaven.  If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

May you rest in eteral peace Stanley.  A grateful America thanks you for your service and sacrifice.  You shall never be forgotten.  God Speed.
