My family and I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of a true American hero, SPC Justin Penrod. Like all true patriots, Justin wrote a check payable to every American for the sum of “Up to and including my life” to protect us from the wolves at the door. Like too many warriors, he paid the full price. We owe you a debt that we can never pay in full. We pray that God will keep you close in your hours of grief. Thank you Justin for your bravery, your duty to us, and the honor you have so greatly shown us all. More importantly thank you for the sacrifices you made in selflessly serving all of us. We slept well last night knowing you were standing on the wall to guard us from the evil in this world. We can never repay the price we owe you and your family. God Bless you and your family. You are in our prayers. Rest in peace hero; your mission is complete; well done. Standing by in Louisville!

To Justin’s wife,
My name is Jay Robinson and I was Justin’s chaplain assistant with the 2-130 when we deployed to Iraq 2005-2006. Justin is a great man and soldier. It was an honor to serve with such a man. I took away many things from soldiers and Justin was one of them. Through the thick and the thin, good times and bad Justin always seem to find something good out of most situations. Please know that he will be missed and never forgotten. Also know that we will see him again when we join him with God in heaven.

The Soldiers Creed says:

I am an American Soldier.

I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and live the Army values.

I will always place the mission first.

I will never accept defeat.

I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior task and drills. I always maintain my
arms, my equipment and myself.

I am an expert and I am a professional.

I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States in close combat.

I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.

I am an American Soldier.

Justin is and always will be the Soldiers Creed! May God’s love surround you and your family during this time.

Prayers,
SGT Jay Robinson

Chaplain Assistant NCO

Gods Blessings,

I will be there to honor this TRUE AMERICAN HERO.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to wear my uniform as it has been 45 years and 60 pounds ago since I have worn one.

My prayers are for his wife and family and friends and commrades. May HE watch over them and give them all comfort in this dark hour.

I deeply regret that three of us from the INDY area will not be able to make this mission as we now have one here with conflicting dates.
I know that our Illinois brothers and sisters will afford this great American HERO the full honors he so richly deserves. We will be there with you in heart and spirit.
Ride safe and GOD BLESS you all.

I would like convey my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American hero who stood tall for their homeland. I know this is a very sad time in your lives but remember you knew a hero first hand the rest of us just get to hear about him. Please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our Lord and Savior in heaven and the Lord said if I go to prepare a place for you,and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. Know that it says in the Bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 ,We are confident I say, willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a hero because not just me but a country full of Americans are free because of the sacrifice they made in the name of freedom. May God Bless each and everyone of you

You are appreciated, Spc Penrod. I know you were welcomed at heaven's gates by all our warriors who have gone before you. You have completed your heroic mission here on earth....rest easy now with our Lord, Justin......you will not be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. Thank you Spec. Justin Penrod for your service and ultimate sacrifice. There was not a vacant overpass on the interstate as we escorted the family and hearse to the cemetery.  Emotion filled people lined the streets.  Thanks to Terry, I was not the only one to be proud enough to be in uniform to honor this family's request.
