I would like to add my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Jason Dore, and profound gratitude to Pfc. Dore for his service to the United States of America. At the same time we bow our heads to bid this heroic American 'farewell', we will all stand a little taller, and draw inspiration from the fact that he was one of us.

MISSION UPDATE - As of 7/14/07 @ 09:00 am
ESCORT MISSION Arrival is Sunday July 15th at 09:07 am. There are two opportunities to join the escort. The first is at the Armory in Augusta, the second is on Route 201 before you get to Skowhegan (for those traveling from the northern region so you don't have to come all the way to Augusta...see details below).
Augusta - Armory (located on Rte 202 in Augusta near the airport) Staging: 08:30 Depart: Approx. 09:30 (could be sooner/later depending on landing time)
Skowhegan - Rte 201 Truck Rest Stop (located on right side headed north just past junction with Rte 23 and just over the railroad tracks) Staging: 09:30 Depart: Estimated at 10:00.
For those staging at the truck stop you will need to appoint a leader to take charge. The escort will not stop to let you in, however, I will ask the State Police to slow down near the truck stop area. When you see us coming be prepared to merge in behind the last motorcycle and in front of the cage vehicle (I will brief the riders in Augusta that we will be doing a rolling merge at that rendezvous point and they will create a space for you.)
Rain is forecasted so gear up accordingly. Bring your vehicle and bike flags. For the folks departing from Augusta it's a long ride...about 65 miles and it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. It will be non-stop so fill your tanks prior to departure. Rest room facilities will be available near or at the Armory. Thanks for your support.
FUNERAL SERVICE
The service will be held on Tuesday, July 17th at 10:00 am at the Quimby Middle School on Route 201 in Bingham.
There will be 3 Staging points to pick up members along the way...here is the info:
Augusta / Civic Center / staging at 07:00 am depart: 07:15
Waterville / Marden's Parking Lot near I-95 exit / stage at 07:15 depart: approx 07:30
Skowhegan / Route 201 Truck Stop (same location as escort mission, see above for directions) / staging at 07:50 depart: approx. 0805
***In order to alleviate any confusion on where to find the latest updates, please refer back to this message as I will continue to edit it to provide you with current information*** |

| Thank you, Pfc Dore, for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To Jason's family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son was killed last year in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear young warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Jason will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom |

First to Jason, you served when called - something so many refuse to do. You served with honor and stood the line even when so many voices tried to make us believe it was the wrong choice, You stood strong and knew our freedom depended on your choice and the choice you made was for freedom. You did the job you were called to do with dignity, effectiveness and courage. YOU ARE AN AMERICAN HERO. To the family - in a time when so many voices want to take away the impoortance of our warriors efforts know that Jason heard the true call. My husband SSG Dale Kelly was one of the many Mainers called to serve. When he was killed by an IED on May 6, 2006 I so wanted to be angry at someone but I looked to the example out there - the cindy sheedhans of the world and knew I could not and would not dishonor my husband by "placing" blame. This country was built on the courage and determionation of men like Jason and Dale and the 3,465 other Americans who knew the job was dangerous when they took it but took it none the less. I know the pain and sorrow you feel and my prayers are with you all. I have always been told that God will never bring you to something He will not take you through. I wish I could be there to ride honor to Jason and for you but I am with my husband's wounded gunner innTexas trying to get him healed. I know that my PRG sisters and brothers will be there and I will be in spirit. May the grace of the Lord hold you up through this time of trial and beyond. Today's mission, to escort PFC Dore home, went without a hitch. It was a job well done by all of you who showed up today. We had thirteen family members and close friends join us as guests on our motorcycles. From the comments I heard once we arrived in Bingham, I get the impression that they were all very pleased with both the ride and the turnout of patriotic Americans joining them for the ride. The young lady who was my guest told me that Jason, PFC Dore, loved motorcycles and loved to ride. She told me that he had just ordered a new motorcycle and was planning to pick it up upon his return from this deployment. She added that she wished he could see this gathering today. He'd be so proud. I told her that he's probably watching over us as we speak.
We managed to live up to our knickname of underwater riders. We hit the rain about ten miles south of Bingham. Oh well, once you're wet, you're wet. We'll make it.
I'd like to thank everyone who showed today. The greatest collection of dedicated folks I've ever had the honor of riding with. Thanks.
Carl, well done Captain. Everything went off smoothly. The speed was perfect, the LEOs super, everything was well planned and executed.

Hi, can you tell me how many folks assisted today from the HOG rally? This mission was announced yesterday by someone and I know lots of people talked about showing up. John and I were very unhappy that we had a commitment and could not attend this mission. All of you were in our spirits. We do not like to miss any Maine Soldiers Honor Mission. I hope our presence today helped the family in their time of sorrow. Bunny O'Leary HOTH Officer Oxford County Proud Blue Star Mom x 2 USAF |

REMINDER: Please see my previous post for staging information for the Funeral Service. Thus far nothing has changed.
Thanks to all who attended the escort...what a fantastic and patriotic turnout! 4 State Troopers provided escort, local police departments provided traffic control in all the towns we passed through. The Bingham, Skowhegan, Madison and local volunteer firefighters and EMTs all joined in the escort as well. I estimated the escort procession was almost two miles long at one point! The folks in the towns along the way payed tribute as well by standing in the rain to pay respects. Thanks to all...it meant so much to Jason's family and friends.
The rain was good in that it camouflaged many tears for many of us, myself included. Just a lot of tremendous support. Thanks again to all. |

Good evening folks. Got some not so good news. John was in a motorcycle accident today. He is doing well and is home however he is bruised pretty good. Bike is in better shape than he is. As you know our honor missions mean alot to us for we like to show support for the family of the fallen hero. I just want you to know we will be with you in spirit on Tuesday. May God watch over everyone tomorrow as he did for John today. Ride Safe. Keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers. Bunny O'Leary Norway Maine HOTH Officer Oxford county |

I have never seen nor experienced anything quite like the mission for Jason. His family and friends were truly proud of him and his service to his country and their love and admiration for him was highly reflected in a very moving and tear filled service.
I would like to personally thank all PGR members who devoted a lot of their time to attend both the escort and the funeral service...your dedication and patriotism is exemplary.
To the Dore Family and Friends...words escape me on how beautiful the service was, how poised and proud you all stood, and the moving and well spoken words that were said in honor of Jason. You should all be very proud of yourselves. It was definitely our honor to stand with each and every one of you to pay respects to Jason and his commitment and ultimate sacrifice to his country.
And finally to the whole Bingham community...you exemplify what it means to be a small town in America. The escort mission was something else to see...4 State Troopers, Sheriffs, Volunteer firemen and EMTs, local folks from neighboring towns standing in the rain to watch us pass...it puts a lump in my throat just remembering it all. You are the heart and soul of this country and your actions and respect and the way you paid tribute to Jason proves it. You are America and you are all true patriots. Thank you for instilling in me a pride that seems to diminish with each news broadcast from whiners about how bad America is. They should have been televising what you folks did for your fellow neighbor, friend and patriot. Thank you to all for making me realize again why I served my country, what is good and wholesome about America, and why it is so very important to honor and to respect those that lay down their lives for us all. |

Somewhere a true believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimum food and water, in austere conditions, day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon. He doesn’t worry about what workout to do — his rucksack weights what is weighs, and he runs until the enemy stops chasing him. The true believer doesn’t care how hard it is; he knows that he either wins or dies. He doesn’t go home at 1700; he is home. He only knows the cause. Just a lil something my Drill Instructor would say to us right before we hit the rack.
Its been a long time bro. Couldn't make it to your funeral, was at Camp Upshur in Quantico, VA. Training. Will be taking your place soon over there in that giant sandbox city. Wish we could have served together. Goodspeed. Cya on the flip side...
