| Although I am not close enough to attend, I grieve and weep for another lost son. I thank you, Colby, for your love and pride in our country, and the willingness to defend. I will honor you in spirit, as others present stand silently, with their pride, honor, and tears. Condolences and love sent to family and friends. Also, to his comrades still serving. |

Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. | I am currently trying to get my mechanic to hook me up with flag holders to fly two 3x5 flags, he is going to TRY and get it done by sat. I plan on being there sunday night and Monday morning. |

1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrel, You are not alone in your love and sacrifice for this country.Tom Paine wrote this December 25, 1776 after the loss of New York. It was read to the troops on Christmas morning by the order of George Washington.
The American Crisis
These are times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.
Colby, you stood in the proud line of Americans who cherish freedom home and abroad. May the Lord give your family peace and comfort.

The family of Lt. Umbrell contacted me this morning to inform me that the body was received by them this morning, Thursday.
Also, that 1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrell will be awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

I too was present in Doylestown and met Miss Umbrill and her Special Friend.

He will not be forgotten.
As I stood my place on the flag line last night I was humbled, as always by the thank you I would get or hear from family, I overheard one soldier tell our RC that this would have made 1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrell so very proud. It is I that should be saying thank you to the family and friends of Lt. Umbrill for letting us honor him, he sacrificed it all to protect a nation.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED *** MISSION COMPLETE
As I've said earlier, rarely have I met a family so gracious even in their grief as the Umbrells. God bless you Mr. Umbrell, and all of yours, from the Patriot Guard.
I am here to report that the members of the Patriot Guard Riders acquitted themselves with dignity and honor for the sake of 1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrell of Doylestown. We started last night at the funeral home. Viewing was held there from 1700 to 2100 hours. A large contingent of Patriot Guard riders stood the flag line silently and respectfully for four hours, showing all who attended that we care for and respect our country's defenders.
Then, this morning, we returned. This time we gatherd at the church across town where services were to be held from 1100 to noon. I started at the funeral home where I had asked for two volunteers with large-flagged bikes to arrive early to escort the casket and family from the funeral home to the church. The rest of the PGR gathered at the church to await their arrival. I went to the funeral home first until I was satisfied that the arrangements as we had outlined with the family were in place, at which time I went on to the church to joint the rest.
Three smart-looking Bensalem motorcycle cops took the point, along with two Warrington motorcycle cops and a State Trooper in a car. This small procession (herse, two limos and a couple of family cars) was then followed up by our two bikes with large PGR and American flags.
Our flag lines were formed along the front walk leading up to the doors of the church. A fire department ladder truck then came and lowered a HUGE American flag right over our heads, making up a very respectful corridor for the arrival of Lt. Umbrell.
The little procession arrived on time, and the Army honor guard was outstanding in their handling of the casket. There was much Army Brass on hand, and lots of uniformed men and women from all serivce branches there to pay their respects.
We snapped to attention and saluted the casket as it was carefully carried inside. After the serivce, we formed up again and did the same as the casket was brought out. After Lt. Colby's body was loaded back into the vehicle, and with hundreds of spectators looking on, a prayer was said and a single white dove was released by the father, symbolizing the letting go of Lt. Umbrell's spirit.
At that point I moved forward and presented the family with the Patriot Guard plaque, and the Patriot Guard saluted the "family of an American Hero."
The whole thing, both, parts, were brought off with dignity and honor. The family and friends of 1st Lt. Colby Umbrell were, without exception, extremely gracious and expressed over and over again their grattitude for our presence and our show of respect.
Thank you - AGAIN - Patriot Guard Riders, from Pa, Maryland, New Jersey and New York. We gave a grieving and deserving family some small comfort today, and we could ask no more than that for our efforts. Job VERY well done.
