Kevin will recon the church and the cemetery tomorrow with someone from Wenig. Parking and the flag setup at the cemetery will be determined at that time. Hopefully Scott and Jeff can provide some extra eyes as well.
I would like to note how everyone has stepped up for GM2 Krutke, not only the PGR but everyone at Wenig, Pastor MacDonald and not to mention the Navy and the Marines [a USMC LtCol is the CACO].
It is the Honor of the PGR to stand for a man who stood for us, and my sincerest thanks to all who stand with me, and helped make it happen.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom |

Please note the cemetery is very small. If you are in a cage we expect to park on the property of the neighboring farm. This is a dirt road, and not suitable for bikes.
If you are scooting tomorrow [and the weather does look to be clearing] you will need to park on the side of the paved section of the road, with your kickstands on the pavement.
Be aware some sections of the road at the cemetery are gravel. Use caution.
Aslo the cemetery has some very muddy sections after today's rain. Please wear appropriate footgear, and maybe bring an extra pair of shoes.
Current forecast is below. See you tomorow.

It was the PGR's honor to stand for GM2 Jared Krutke's wake yesterday. It was my honor to stand with Doc ( Hogwildheart), TopJeff, Sparky, Mike, Scott ( ALR), and Kevin ( Kontractor). The people from Wenig's Funeral Home could not have been more hospitable.....if it was there, it was our's. The family, people paying respects and the military personnel all expressed their appreciation, as did the Wenig staff. Doc and Kevin , special thanks for getting the flags standing proud. Kevin, good job on the cemetary recon and Mike and TopJeff's Church and cemetary recon ( 2nd opinions are a great thing.)
Just the PGR Standing for those who Stood For Us.

To the Family and Loved ones of GM2 Jared Krutke, we thank God there are people such as he that are willing to step in harm's way to do the right thing. I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to stand in Honor of such a fine human being, and to ride escort for his Funeral.
IT IS NOT THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIS PASSING THAT MADE JARED AN EXEMPLARY HUMAN BEING, IT IS THE WAY HE CHOSE TO DEVOTE HIS LIFE TO THE SERVICE OF OTHERS AND HIS COUNTRY.
My passenger pegs are always down, and I welcome Jared's Spirit to join me in the wind anytime his spirit so desires. As a rider I would welcome his presence watching my back as I ride, and I pray that if I ever need assistance of any kind that he. or some one just like him will be there to see me through.

Ride Report GM2 Jared Krutke,
Despite earlier forecasts, it was a beautiful day to pay homage to a man who was honored to stand for his country.
We picked up the flags about 0900 at the Wenig Funeral Home. We
discussed our plans with them regarding the church and the cemetery,
and they were helpful as always, but left it up to us.
A recon of the cemetery confirmed it would be every bit the challenge
our previous eyes had said it would be. While it is a beautiful
country cemetery, moving cars and bikes around, much less where to park
them, was a challenge to say the least. Fortunately, the adjacent
farmer also stood in support of GM2 Krutke. He had rearranged his milk
pick up and farm activities so as not to interfere with the service.
He also graciously allowed the PGR to park on his property, with a
solid gravel parking area for the bikes, as it was pretty soggy.
This was a HUGE help, as it allowed the cemetery team [cagers] to move
ahead of the procession, set up the flags prior to the mourner's
arrival, and park out of the way. The PGR bikes in the procession
smoothly peeled off from the procession and also parked in this area,
thereby freeing up the road for the mourners.
From talking with this gentleman, it was very clear, that while he was
not signed up as a WI PGR, he certainly was so in spirit. Accordingly,
he was given a WI PGR decal and a PGR GM2 Krutke Mission decal. He
seemed to really appreciate them, and his cows were greatly interested
in the proceedings.
We arrived at the church and started setting up our flags. Helping
hands started to arrive immediately [indeed Kevin caught up with us as
we approached Sheboygan] and jumped right in. Our flags were in front
of the church, and around almost the whole parking lot. It was an
impressive sight.
We received many Thanks from the mourners and military present While
their thoughts are greatly appreciated, it was truly our priviledge to
stand for Jared.
The cemetery team did a great job, and had the path to the gravesite
lined with flags on both sides for the mourners to walk through. The
gravesite was encircled with flags, and the PGR did a semi Circle of
Comfort, as appropriate.
It was a ceremony done in the Navy tradition, and the plaque was
presented to the widow at the conclusion of the flag presentation.
Tears were in everyone's eyes.
I will admit to you three things struck me about this mission:
How many people came and Thanked us for being there, and their
emotion. Perhaps it was the unusual circumstances of Jared's passing,
perhaps it was because many knew him from church. Maybe it was
something else, I am not sure. But this was different.
The staff of Wenig Funeral Home were excellent to work with. When I
spoke with them last week, I told them I was concerned about our
attendance as we had 4 missions in a very short time, the time of day,
etc. When I told them about our flags, a light bulb lit. They
immediately offered, if we could not get them to Oostburg and set up in
time, that they would come and get the flags and set them up
themselves. Of course, Scott, Kevin and Doc stepped up big time, but I
have never heard of an offer like that.
I had more occasion than usual to converse with the Wenig people during
this mission. We got to know each other. At the conclusion of the
ceremony, I had the chance to ask what could we have done better? How
could we have made their job easier? What should we improve for the
next time?
Their answer: nothing. They had no complaints, no issues, no
suggestions. At least for this mission, the WI PGR could not have been
more perfect in their execution.
I am very proud of the PGR.
Lastly, I would like to note the exceptional teamwork that helped make
this mission, and the previous 3 missions, a success. We had 4
missions in 12 days, involving 3 other states [IL counts twice!]. A
300 mile escort. An honor mission with one day notice, in support of
our brothers to the South. That is a lot. And GM2 Krutke was honored
with just as much energy as we started with two weeks ago. And he
deserved no less.
I would like to Thank the 25 PGR that attended today, including our new
ASC. We had 9 bikes and purple flames in the procession., and a sea of
flags when we arrived. I would especially like to Thank Jeff, Scott,
Kevin, Steve, Doc and Paul for their help in executing this and
previous missions. I know I am missing someone. My apologies. A long
couple of weeks.
As I said, I am proud of our PGR. You done good.
Stephen,
I am very sorry to say I did not get the chance to shake your hand
today. There is a lot of running around to make sure things get done,
and I must have been gone when you walked the line. I very am sorry I
missed you.
But I believe I know who you are. I believe you are the man that was
beaming as the PGR stood at attention for an Army soldier, as he walked
through our lines.
I believe you are the man that said "Thank You" for standing at
attention for that soldier, as he is my son. And I am the Uncle of the
man laying inside that church.
While I have not seen it happen before, I was pleased to see you
involved on a proactive basis with PGR before the services for GM2
Krutke. I cannot imagine how hard that must have been. I can only
hope it helped you and your family to see us at our work, and how we
work, as your work helped us.
And as I know you saw, there are people that stand for Jared and his
brethren all across this great country, not just those that were there
yesterday or today.
It truly is Our Honor.
We Thank You for having us.

I would be negligent in my duties if I didn't send out a special thank you to Mike Bley ( ProKing). On Wed., the day of the wake for Jared in Oosburg, rain was falling to the south and from what I understand, to the north as well ( I'm quite sure God was weeping) and I received an email from Mike ( he lives about 1.5 miles from Wenig Funeral Home) offering overnight storage to anybody who needed it. What can I say, Mike.....you and the PGR are the best.

I received the following note which must be posted to let others know Jared a little better.
Subject: Thank You
Thank you for all your kind words that have been posted of one of my best friends that I had the great pleasure of serving with aboard the USS Ashland. Jared Krutke is one of the best people that I have and the privilege of serving with. Its a great thing to hear such kind words being spoken about him. I feel honored to have known him and I know that seeing your prays to his family and friends would make him smile. He was a great man that loved his family very much and cared deeply for his friends. I can think of one person the he didn’t know at least on an acquaintance level. He was a strong supporter of me being a single mom and being able to make it as one. I wished that he would have been able to meet the little girl that, with his support is alive and very well. So hearing such great words makes me cry happy tears knowing that he will not be forgotten! I have enclosed a few photos that where taken over seas in Dubai while visiting a port call. They are from my deployment pictures that I was fortunate enough to be graced with Jared presence. Thanks again.
Sincerely

here's another one:
Yes please go ahead and post it and send it to his family, being in the
military our families dont always get the chance to hear all the kind words and
fun times that have been spent. I know that his family, even his wife a
daughter dont know that his kind words are the reason that I was able to step up
and be a single mother knowing that it was only me and that the fatehr was goign
to be out of the picture, but it was Jared that told me that if God didnt think
that I could be a good mother then he wouldnt have let it happen. They will
never know how every mornign in the paint locker on deployment he walked in
witha smile knowing that it was goign to be a bad day and how much that affected
the rest of us. Yes they know there son but they deserve to know how many
people that his kind words, great smile, silly sence of humor, devotion to not
only his family and friends but God also, he was a truely great person. Thank
you!
