PFC Garbs,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. You are truly an American hero and the world in which we live is a safer place because of your commitment to freedom. We will now proudly stand for you with honor, dignity, and respect. We pray that you will now rest peacefully in the arms of God. May He provide peace, comfort, and understanding to each life you touched.

"This is Gettysburg. This is where they fought the battle of Gettysburg. Fifty thousand men died right here on this field, fighting this same fight that we're stil fighting amongst ourselves today. This green field right here, painted red, bubbling with blood of young boys, smoke and hot lead pouring right through their bodies. Listen to their souls, men; to kill my brother with malice in my heart. Hatred destroyed my family. You listen, and take a lesson from the dead. If we don't come together right now, on this hallowed ground, we too, will be destroyed, just like they were." -Denzel Washington as Coach Herman Boone in, "Remember the Titans"

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Pfc. Ryan Garbs. May you find strength in your hour of need. Ryan played little league baseball with my daughter and they attended school together early on. My heart goes out to this family. Each of us should always remember that these men and women are not only heroes and defenders of our freedom, but brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. They and their families sacrifice so much for us and some pay the ultimate price. We will miss Ryan as we do all our fallen heroes but we shall never forget what we have because of these brave men and women who serve this country. Fair winds and Following seas my brother your watch here is through. Although your ship is no longer visible from our shore we know that it is docked and has been well received on another. greybeard (Chris Costley) standing by

My condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Ryan Garbs. Please know that my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you at this time. I pray that God will give you the strength to make it throught these difficult times. I will be riding the Run For The Wall from Calf. to Wash. DC in May. Ryan will be remembered on that ride as I go to the Vietnam Memorial to honor those brave young men from another war.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

My heartfelt regret and sympathy to the family of U.S. Army PFC Ryan Garbs. Anyone who walks in the tradition of the Army Rangers is amongst the best that our country can produce, and the loss of such a man makes us all the poorer. All who cherish Liberty and the safety of their children, owe this young soldier our everlasting graditude, and a debt of honor. Distance will prevent many of us in Iowa from honoring Ryan in person; but as we honor his comrade on the fated aircraft, SPC Vaughn, we will also be showing our love and respect for Ryan and all the other men involved. I pray to our Heavenly Father to Abide with Ryan's family, tenderly guide them through the days to come, bring peace and solace, and visit them with eagles and angels.
