SSgt. Ross, we thank you for your devotion to duty. It is hard to put into words how grateful people can be to someone they will never meet. Our freedom and the defeat of oppression in this world is unfailingly Christian and you have given your ultimate gift of love. God bless your family. We lost our nephew in Iraq and we will keep you in our prayers, that you find strength and support from those around you.

Thank you for the mission you gave to your life in protecting our freedoms, and striving to give others, theirs. The lives of you and the men and women who have gone before you are raised high, and not given in vain. I honor you, and pray that our children will learn to do the same throughout coming generations. God bless your family, and may they keep their memories alive and rejoice in the life of a hero.

Remembering my nephew and Godchild, LCpl. Matthew Snyder, KIA Iraq 3/3/06

SSgt Eric Ross,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and all that we hold sacred. Though tears can never bring you back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that you made and our sorrow at your passing. You are truly a hero and your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Your mission on earth is complete. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the heroes who have passed before.

To the family and friends of SSgt Ross, we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences. May God smile down upon you in this time of deep sorrow and grant you the strength and conviction to carry on. May you find joy in fond memories and peace in knowing that your loss was not in vain. A grateful nation stands with you.

Dearest Ross family both here and in texas, please know that you do not walk this nightmare alone. Eric has joined other heroes my husband SSG Dale Kelly KIA May 6,2006 also being one of them. I do know the depth of you loss, the numbness, the pain, the fears, the obligation to children and to family and I want you to know that I hold you all especailly that little unborn son in my prayers. This time is hard but belief that our men gave all to insure the safety of their children, their wives, their families and the families of all that live free under the red, white and blue, provides at least a reason if not some comfort. I am sorry that you join our ranks of freedom widows but you like your husband, you are in good company. We carry on where our soldiers left off. We can become the voice that rings true and loud so they will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! This sacrifice will seem particularily unfair and the next period of time is difficult but know that you are not alone and there are those of us ready to reach out to you. Texas has a strong GSW( Gold Star Wives) group and I know they will walk with you if you reach out to them. I wish there were magic words I could offer, or a way to shoulder some of your pain but all I can offer is my experience, my love and caring and most importantly my prayers. I will proudly stand honor here in Maine to respect the sacrifice that both Eric and you and your family has, is and will continue to make. If there is anything I can do - I keep "widow hours" not much sleep so an email or phone call in the middle of the night to talk would be no bother at all. I know you do not know me but we know each other through the sacrifice of our husbands to the same ememy and for the same cause. my number is 207 737-4013 and email machinegunsmate@yahoo.com please do not hesitate to call. I will be in texas in march sometime with my husband's gunner who was wounded and needs to go back to ft. sam so if I can be of comfort or help just let me know. As you kiss you children tonight and the pain begins to overwhelm you remember that Eric gave it all to insure their safety and drive on.
