My heart breaks to learn that my fellow Navy Aviators gave their all while serving in the defense of our great nation.

My and my family's deepest sympathies and condolences are offered up to the family and friends of Cory Helman for your loss.

Thank you, PO1 Helman for your bravery, sacrifice, and willingness to fight for freedom in defending our Nation . Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten . You are, no doubt, a hero to us and our great country. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family and friends during this difficult time . God Bless and Bravo Zulu.

Rest easy, we now have the watch.

I received this notice of an article about PO1 Helman and it's a prayer of mine answered about my fellow Navy Airdale:

http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,125888,00.html?ESRC=navy-a.nl

The article states:
"Aircrew Recovered in Salvage Operation Navy News | Lt. Ron Flanders | February 20, 2007 San Diego, CA. -- Navy salvage crews recovered the remains of three aircrewmen on Feb. 16, who were lost at sea Jan. 26 in the fatal crash of their MH-60S “Knighthawk” helicopter.

The remains of Lt. j.g. Laura Mankey, Lt. Adam Dyer and Petty Officer 1st Class Cory Helman arrived at Naval Air Station North Island via helicopter and were transported to Naval Medical Center San Diego."

We cannot know what lies ahead for sea-mist cloaks the mast. Tell-tale stars dissolve within the fog that holds us fast. Thoughts we have, but to ourselves. They have no meaning here. Myself, my ship, beings ghostly masked. Blind, we ride the silent cloud, Souls that dare not ask their destination, Drifting in a cemetery sea. Fair winds and following seas my brother. I'll meet you in Davey Jones locker.
