Regrettably, it appears work and family obligations will prevent me from attending, but am keeping one eye on this in case things change.

Prayers to Capt. Patriquin's family. Rest In Peace Capt. Patriquin, your service and sacrifice is humbling.

My condolences to the family and friends of Capt. Patriquin. He may rest in peace now and know he will never be forgotten. Thank you for your service. God Bless. Unfortunately a prior mission will keep me from attending this one. Stretch

Condolences to the family and friends of Capt. Patriquin a true American hero. I will be honored to ride for you!

A wise man once said- "War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic fellings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself" John Stuart Mill

God Bless you Capt. Patriquin, you are a great American!

13 Dec 2006 2:31 PM Alert

I will be attending this mission as my first one. I will have 2 others riding along with me and one is a member of PGR. We are recruiting the other. I do not have a large flag but I do have a couple of smaller ones, maybe 15" X 10", and I will bring those. We will all be in plain black leather and on a Sabre, Aero and a V-Star.

I do not know where this cemetery is that they mention but if it is like most of the little ones around here it may be down a gravel road. Also, the ground is going to be soft so be sure to bring something to put under the kick stand.

Looking forward to being part of this...........

My sincerest condolences to the family of Capt. Patriquin. Losing a loved one during the holiday season has to be particularly tough. Believe it when we say that you have our prayers and support.

Do we know if this is a mission for tomorrow yet? I need to see if I can get a vacation day to stand up for this hero.

Thanks,

Mike Chambers

As far as I know this mission is confirmed for tomorrow.

Road Contrstruction Warning:

Riders coming in from the East on I-44 at the HWY 63 exit (the exit for Lowes) there is some gravel and sand at the beginning of the exit ramp, take it slow.

Riders coming in from the West CAUTION! The road construction on the East Bound side of I-44 is bad! At the second Rolla exit mile marker 185.6 the right lane is closed and there are no signs! The speed limit is at 50 MPH and on my way to St James this morning I almost had an RV take out my pickup, he was in the right lane passing everyone in the left lane at about 80 MPH and ran out of road as he was going by me, glad I have good brakes!

Ride safe

The route to the cemetery was checked today. There WILL be some gravel road to ride on. When I came past it today the gravel road looked dry and well packed from the recent weather we have had. If you do not want to ride the gravel road I think there is an alternate route only being a couple of miles out of the way. I'll have a map with me. I will try to be at Lowes right at 0800 and will have another rider with me if he can get off work. One of my friends could not get off work. There will be a LEO escort from what I was told. The procession route will be monitored with several LEO's strategically placed.

If anyone needs anymore info please contact me....... I will monitor this thread all evening... I live in Salem............

All infomation on missions should be submitted to the Ride Capt for that mission. I appreciate all the help, but if to many people are putting out info then the thread gets confusing. I will explain the lack of info in the morning at the Riders meeting at 8:45 am..

15 Dec 2006 5:18 PM Alert
Ride Report: We started off arriving at Lowe's and soon had at least 30+ bikes and cages. We departed Lowe's for St Patrick's Catholic Church. We parked in the parking lot next to Panera's and arrived safely with a Rolla Police Dept escort. After arriving we carried the flags across the street and formed a line following the circle sidewalk outside the entrance to the church. At approximately 10 am Capt Patriquin arrived with police escort. After the casket and the family and friends were safely inside the church for the service. We broke ranks and went back across the street. Preacher Jim took charge of the group going to the cemetery, which consisted of all the bikes and cages excluding the honor guard. They departed just before the main funeral procession departed. This was done because the procession was going to take a route through the country around the family farm. We were infomed we shouldn't ride on this part due to rough roads. The honor guard seperated from the main procession at a county road and continued on to the cemetery. At the cemetery a flag line was formed across the cemetery with flags along the fence in front of the cemetery. The final service was an extended one due to military honors and medal presentation and a Native American ceremony, that Capt Patriquin had
requested in his will. It was a very moving ceremony. The plaque had not arrived in time to present it to the family, so it along with the mission flag will be mailed to a PGR Ride Capt in the Shreveport, La . area...It was an honor to pay repect and stand for Capt Patriquin. I thank all that made the trip from near and far. You are what this organization is about.

Another well done job by RC Joe Smith. Thanks for your efforts and time to make these missions run smoothley. Also, thanks to Preacher Jim for his help with supplying flags and logistics. Most of all, thanks to the family of Capt. Patriquin for allowing us to honor your hero. The Noble Eagles had 6 members present for this mission and thank God, everyone made it home safe and sound.

Plaque report:Hi, Joe -

We delivered it last night and it went very well. I guess they'd all been at the service and were very appreicative of everything y'all did. We've picked up at least one and maybe several new PGR members from the family. Amy is trying to adjust, and still has some rough times in front of her. I'm told she still has to return to Germany, go through everything and move back stateside. Y'all keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Let me know if there's anything else you need me to do.

Chas

This was from Chas Dickson in Bossier City La. He and some others delivered the plaque for Capt Patriquin. Thanks to them for the assistance...

Glad to hear we may have picked up some new members as a result of this mission. I think this happens more frequently than we realize. Standing next to me in the flag line at this mission was a Gold Star mom who lost her son in Iraq last Spring. I uploaded some photos of this mission (including her) to the PGR website this morning.

Although I'm not a R/C, here's a bit of a post-ride report. During the mission, many of the family members were fairly insistant that we join them for lunch afterwards at the building next to the church. Their church had prepared food for 150 people. Although we normally don't want to intrude during this very personal time for the family, they were all so insistant that I decided to take them up on it. As it turned out, I was the only PGR member who attended, and I spent a good deal of time visiting with several people there. They had a lot of questions about the PGR, how to contact, join, donate, etc. They also wanted to know more about how we conduct missions and handle things when the ugs show up.

After most people had finished eating, the Native Americans (Pawnee I believe) who had been at the cemetary, stood up and made a few presentations to Capt. Patriquin's wife. These included a beautiful indian blanket, a set of three very nice limited edition art prints by an artist member of their tribe, and a very large and beautiful American Eagle feather with some beadwork attached to it. This last item was very special because I believe it's against federal law have an Eagle feather unless you are either a Native American or have a certificate stating that it was obtained and transferred to you legally by a Native American. As a point of interest, the young man who had sung the warrior's song at the cemetary was introduced as their tribe's "Banshee".

This was a well organized and well led mission, and I was proud to participate in it. May God bless and watch over Capt. Patriquin's family as they struggle to move forward now with their lives.

Respectfully submitted,

Mike Chambers
