Regretfully, I must stand down from this mission, as it is at the same time as a major exam at UH.

| Houston PGR Itinerary to attend the services for Spc. Daniel W. Winegeart, 23, of Kountze, TX - 26 Oct 06
This is the Houston Area Patriot Guard Riders Itinerary to attend the service for Spc. Daniel Winegeart, who gave all for you and me, this Thursday the 26th. I know this is a weekday but lets have a good turnout from the area to honor this fallen hero.
Iron Horses if you have then, cages are always welcomed. If you gage it (car or truck) please bring extra flags and if possible an ice chest with some water in it for the riders and the community at the services. If we get a support vehicle we can bring the flags we have.
Date: Thursday October 26th 2006
Houston Staging Area: We will stage in Baytown off I-10 and FM 3180 at the Exxon Station (north east corner), exit number off I-10 is 800 from west or east. This is where we meet for the last mission to Beaumont .
Time: 7:00AM 7:20 Riders meeting & prayer KSU 7:30AM Sharp!
Route: I-10 East to Beaumont 65 miles, 1 hour and 15 minutes.
We will travel in a staggered formation, at or close to the speed limit. If we have over 12 riders will break into groups of 6 to 8 with a 3 minute staggered departure for each group. It is safer to travel in smaller groups on the interstate than it is in one large group. If we have support vehicles they will be assigned a group to travel with, starting with the last group then next to last and so on. Know your riding limits and do not attempt to exceed them. Be sure you and your bike are up to the task. Please start hydrating the day before and remain hydrated.
RC’s for Houston John “Two Eagles” Brinkman and Rev Brian Jones
Weather: AccuWeather says a high of 85 degrees with a 30% chance of rain and windy.
I need a final head count for the Houston staging area, please ONLY reply if you will be at the staging area. Reply to pgrrchouston@yahoo.com |

When one bleeds, we all bleed, When one is taken from us, we all feel the empty void. In the deepest part of every true patriots heart, is a pure positive energy that so truly desires to let your family know that your loss is also our loss. I know this is not always something that can be explained by a few simple written words no matter how hard I try to use my words to embrace you in this time of your family heart ache. With Our Deepest Regret, And Our Highest Respectable Humble Regard, We openly shed more than just tears with you. Our heart aches knowing your feeling an aching void. Our heart ache is truly in honor felt for your loved one. It will be an honor and privilege for the Trophy Club Texas Bikers to stand tall, proud, respectful, silent and mourn in silence from North Texas and continue to show our support to a heart broken family, state and nation.

Just a note to say THANK YOU to all the PGR members and others who participated in the escort ride home last night for this HERO. It was a very moving and heart wrenching to see how the people turned out to say thank you to this Veteran even though most did not know him or his family.
By the time we had arrived in Kountze the highway was packed. The flags were everywhere. When I turned on Hwy 326 I was not expecting what I saw.......luminaries that lighted the way for this HERO on his final ride to his hometown.
The visitation is tonight at First Baptist Church in Kountze 5:00 - 9:00 pm. The service is Thursday and the weather forecast is calling for rain. Please come out and show your support for this HERO and let his family know we appreciated his service.
When I questioned one of fellow PGR members about riding in a car instead of the bike......his response was thought provoking: HE fought in all kinds of weather conditions.......enough said. I am on the bike in the rain gear.
Hope to see everyone Thursday. Sandra

It was my honor to participate in one of the most awe inspiring experiences of my life yesterday. I was one of a number of bikes that made the trip from Kountze, Texas to Bush Intercontinental Airport to bring home another American hero. There are no words to describe my feelings and emotions on the return trip. We started seeing small clusters of people with flags as we approached Dayton and Liberty, some 65 miles out from our final destination. The groups got bigger as we went through Nome, China and on into Beaumont where the people were assembled in even larger numbers. As we crossed into Hardin County, it was unbelievable. Daylight had given way to darkness and the people of Hardin County stood in the light of their vehicles and if no light was available, stood in the darkness to show their respect for Sgt Winegeart. There were American flags of all sizes displayed. If they had no flags, they saluted or had their hand over their heart. The crowds lining the roadway through Lumberton and into Kountze were huge. The reception in Kountze was overwhelming. The residents of this small southeast Texas town lined the street, in places several deep, holding flags and candles. As we made the turn toward the funeral home, people stood shoulder to shoulder holding flags or candles with luminaries on the ground at their feet. Hardin County, you did the memory of Sgt Winegeart proud! Patriotism is not a thing of the past like the news media might tend to suggest. There were men “of a certain age” standing ramrod straight, hands at their side, some saluting. There were families with small children waving flags or simply standing with their hands over their heart. All along the route from Beaumont through Kountze, there were law enforcement vehicles, ambulances, wreckers and fire trucks parked with their lights flashing. Thanks to the police officers, sheriffs, deputies and constables who handled the escort duties. They did a phenomenal job of keeping everyone safe. Last night Southeast Texas stood silent and proud as we brought our hero home.

I got back home, set the flags to dry, changed into dry clothes and sat down and read the memorial from Spc Daniel Winegeart funeral. I thought I'd share............................................. ################################################################# All Gave Some, Daniel Gave All
Shortly after high school Daniel enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completing basic training, Daniel was chosen as the only person out of 287 in his group for Special Forces Training. In the Army Daniel served as an electronics specialist and was currently serving his third deployment to Iraq. Daniel served as a member of the 5th Special Forces Ranger Group. In his military career, Daniel received the following awards: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritories Service Medal, Joint Service Achievment Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He also received parachutist and expert rifle badges.

I would like to thank the Beaumont PGR group and other members for taking me into your group as one of your own. It's nice to arrive at this type gathering and not have to feel tension - - but rather a sense of belonging. It really makes a difference and I truely Thank You All. Sandra, what can I say.........you did an outstanding job with EVERYTHING. I can only envy the way you spoke to the family on our behalf.........I just don't have that kind of control. I also want to Thank You for allowing the latitude for me to escort "solo" for the PGR group. The "rain" did stop for that part of the ride. I was directed by the funeral director to "shadow the hearse" to the cemetery. I cannot describe THAT Honor and the feelings that go with it, to show our Respect for this fallen hero. I hope that Daniel's family could feel the hurt that we ALL are feeling WITH them, and that they can know that they and Daniel are in our prayers. Daniel will ride with me on every mission from this day forward. You WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. I know without a doubt that this was an outstanding young man who will be missed by not only his family in Texas, but his military family of brothers and sisters as well. Uncle Gary........I hope your ride home was drier than this morning. Oh yea, "What rain?" Thanks again Beaumont.........I hope to ride with you all again.
