Doc Lee, or anyone else for that matter. I'm about 2 hours South of K.C. I'm about 10 miles North of Pittsburg, Ks. If I'm in your line of travel, and you need a place to stay the night, just give me a shout and I'll fix you up. 2 empty bedrooms, folding cots, sleeping bags, a place to park the bikes inside, hot coffee, hot shower, hot food. I estimate St. Joseph, Mo. to be about 166 miles North of here. Don't know yet if I'll be caging it or on the scoot.

I'm posting my name and number for your convenience. Leave a message if we are not here.

Update-

From KQTV.com:

Plans In The Works For Soldier`s Service

The family of a St. Joseph soldier killed in the line of duty makes plans to lay him to rest.

Brian Bradbury`s wife and two daughters arrived in St. Joseph Tuesday to make arrangements.

They traveled here from New York, where Bradbury was stationed.

The 22-year-old was killed last week by enemy fire during a combat mission.

His mother says the family will hold a service at Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, followed by a full military funeral in White Cloud, Kansas. She says the service will likely be Saturday, but an official time and date have not been set.

I will post more information as I receive it.

If you are coming from the east or southeast part of Kansas City (Lees Summit, Blue Springs, Grandview, Independence or other similar places, I would strongly suggest that you come north on I435 that goes by the Royals and Chiefs stadiums. If you take this interstate highway up to Platte City, MO, you will avoid all of the downtown construction and traffic headaches.

Please plan on meeting me (pbrobbins) at the McDonalds in Platte City (exit 18) after you come north on I435. There is a Quick Trip gas station (truck stop) next to the McDonalds so you can gas up before you go to St. Joseph, MO.  St. Joseph is only 28 miles north of Platte City.
Presently, the tentative date for this mission is Saturday (July 1st), but this could change.
So, keep watching this thread for the official time and day.

Ride safe, everyone.

First of all, I want to thank each of you. The captains may make the plans, but the Riders make the Mission.

The tentative plan is for a funeral Saturday at 1300 at Word of Life Church (www.wolc.com) in St. Joseph, MO. This is subject to change, since PFC Bradbury was in transit from Dover AFB to Missouri when I checked this afternoon.

ITINERARY

SATURDAY MORNING: Ride in to the Assembly Point. If you want to ride in with a group, follow this thread and contact any of the ride organizers for more information.

1000: Assembly Point opens.
Assembly Point:
American Legion Post 359
4826 Frederick Blvd.
St. Joseph, MO 64506

1100: Mission Briefing. Equipment check: Flags out. Form up for Ride

1115: Ride to Word of Life Church, Riverside Road at Cook Road, St. Joseph, MO.
Route: East from American Legion on Frederick Avenue to Riverside Road. North on Riverside Road to Word of Life Church.

1130: On station.

1300: Funeral begins.

We will also take part in the Escort Ride from the church to the cemetery at White Cloud, KS following the funeral. Details to follow.

SAFETY

Ride safely; everyone goes home at the end of the Mission.

Remember the basics: hydration and protection from the sun. We will be standing on 20 acres of asphalt in Missouri in July. The weather forecast is for a high of 91, with SSW winds gusting 15-29 mph. There is also a 25% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Plan accordingly.

Soldiers Angels have graciously volunteered to provide bottled water for this Mission. Thanks to Debby and all the Angels!

COMMAND AND SIGNAL

Big Dog is the Ride Captain for this Mission. S/C Bill "WHR2ND" Richart may attend this Mission, depending on his availability. Any other R/C or S/C that attends, please find Big Dog at the Assembly Point.

Refer any reporters to Big Dog.

Big Dog's cell number: (816) 262-4986. Contact me if you run into any problems or if any Rider is injured.

MISCELLANEOUS

BRING YOUR BIG FLAGS.

Missouri is a "helmet state". If you are riding in from out of state, don't forget your skid lid.

This is solemn business we are on. Remember to maintain a properly respectful demeanor ("proper military bearing"). We will honor the US flag, PFC Bradbury, and PFC Bradbury's family with hand salutes. If you are not comfortable with a salute, please place your hand over your heart when honoring the Flag and PFC Bradbury's casket.

All updates and changes will be posted to this thread.

I look forward to seeing you all Saturday; I only wish it were under happier circumstances.

Knees in the breeze,
Big Dog out.
