To the family of SPC Issac Johnson, friends and loved ones: please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Our proud and grateful nation will never forget his service and his sacrifice for our freedom and our liberties. We only live in the land of the free because of the brave. I pray that God will give you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

"I Am A Soldier"

I'm a lonely soldier in a far away land,
Fighting for causes I may not understand.
Sleepless nights, no pillow anywhere for my head,
That wet and hard cold ground is a soldier's bed.

These strangers here with me are more than friends,
They feel more like family maybe even kin.
Together we fight for our families back home,
To give them a right of freedom to roam.

I've fought through trenches, rain, snow and mud,
Watched my comrades fall covered in blood.
Freedom does not come cheap for the USA,
Lives are lost to the war each and every day.

I defend my stripes, the Red, White and Blue,
Just as the rest of my comrades do.
I go to war never knowing if I'll be back,
I'm a soldier, it's my duty, and that's a fact.

It was my decision to wear my military gear,
And travel thousands of miles away from here.
I chose to protect my country and give my life,
Maybe leaving a child fatherless, or widow my wife.

Maybe I'm a Mother, Daughter, Son or even a Dad,
It doesn't make it any easier on the family I had.
They grieve if they lose someone to war,
Whether close or far away on a distant shore.

I am a Soldier, I chose to fight to keep my country free,
Just like my comrades, should I fall, don't grieve for me.
And should you see my name upon the wall,
Remember that I died a Soldier, not for one, but for all.

We all know the sacrifices that our soldiers make. SPC. Issac L. Johnson has made those sacrifices so that our world will be a better place. He made those sacrifices without any reservations. Now his friends and family must also make many sacrifices.

I am truly sorry for the pain that this family is going through. Please find some measure of comfort knowing that SPC. Issac L. Johnson will always be remembered as a true American Hero.

America is the greatest, most powerful nation in our world. The success of our nation can be contributed to two things. The compassion found in the hearts of America’s citizens and the unselfish conviction to doing what is right by America’s soldiers. An American soldier sets the bar for being compassionate, dedicated, professional, and sincere in doing his duty. There are three things that are important to American soldiers. Honor, sacrifice, and remembrance. SPC. Issac L. Johnson, you have exemplified honor with your actions, you have made the ultimate sacrifice for your nation, and you will always be remembered as a shining example of America’s best.

SPC. Issac L. Johnson, your war is over. You have fought a gallant battle. You have made a difference in the future of our nation and in our world. Rest easy my combat brother. Rest in peace.

Gene Altman
GA Pointman

A person is not judged a Hero by the way he died-rather by the way he lived.

The price of freedom is visible at any Veteran's Hospital.

If you want to salute, or cover your heart with your hand, or just stand silently holding the flag, it's your choice. The only thing I request is that you do it in a respectful manner. I am a combat veteran. I served my country. I led young men and boys face to face in combat with their enemy. I also am a disabled veteran. War related. I have certainly earned the right to salute in a respectful manner but my salute is no more important than any nonveteran standing in our flag line. My love for America and my respect for our fallen warriors is no more or no less important than anyone else that comes to our PGR mission. I have fought for my country and I will continue to fight for the rights of every person that stands in our flag line.

Georgia PGR.... PART OF IT- PROUD OF IT!

If it's truly not about us, then it doesn't matter what logo we wear on our backs as long as we honor our warriors in a respectful manner.
If it takes a village to raise a child, then it should take the nation to honor it's warriors.

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."
