It is with the utmost respect that I offer my condolences to the family of a true American Hero. Matthew, may you rest in the knowledge that your duty was well done and you have the thanks of an entire nation for your sacrifice and your service. I know that you will now be in the company of your fellow veterans who have gone before you and who will welcome you at the Gates upon your arrival. Stand down now and know that we will carry on your legacy of freedom for all our citizens. To your family and friends I ask that God comfort them now in their time of despair and remain with them as they adjust to their loss.

It is with heartfelt regret and absolute sympathy that I submit my few weak words to all family and friends of U.S. Army PFC Matthew W. Wilson. I do not know this man; but I know of his kind, and that makes him a very special individual indeed! I know that in the course of his career, many lives were in his hands; and vital missions were accomplished because of his dependable courage. And I know that our nation, and the Army Family has lost a hero; and I sorrow for this, and for all his loved ones. I pray to The God of Our Fathers on behalf of all whose hearts have been wounded by this terrible event. May they be comforted by devine and human love. May they walk in peace through all the days of their lives. Matthew you are a true American Hero and will never be forgotten.

I'm PFC Matthew W. Wilson's mother in law. I would truly like to thank each and every one of you Patriot's who intend to ride on this confirmed mission for Matt's funeral. We found out yesterday that the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas will be protesting at his funeral in Arlington. While we don't understand how people can do this. This is a time of mourning, healing, & trying to get closure by paying your last respects to your loved one and then you have people like this who think it's wrong to tell your loved ones goodbye and pay your respects to them. I really think it's so sad that my daughter, who is 19 and who became a wife, a mother and a widow all in under a year, now can expect this at her husbands funeral. We just want all of the Patriot's to know that not only are they all invited to this funeral service, they will be welcomed with open arms and appreciated for all they do during this time and in the future. Please, feel free to contact me at nanaboo22@coatesfamilytree.org. Thanks again, Sincerely, Clorissa Baldwin

I am the Asst State Captain responsible for ANC PGR missions.
Some things we have observed - vis-a-vis the WBC and ANC missions:
-- They announce a protest for every ANC mission we schedule, but appear at almost none.
-- If they apply for a permit to protest, we find out, and shield the family as it arrives at ANC - making them virtually invisible.
-- They are always restricted to 1 small stretch of sidewalk outside ANC and are NOT allowed inside.
I talked with Tom this morning, and promised him, and the family, we will ensure this solemn ceremony is NOT disturbed.
We will be there!! Guarding!! Honoring!!

Wilson, Matt and I miss you so much. We think about you and talk about you every day. I love hearing the stories about you from OSUT and I will forever treasure the short time I got to spend with you. Matt and I promise to do everything in our power to make sure Ashlynn and Gunnar always have everything they need. You have a special place in our hearts and we will always remember. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten and your spirit will live on through those of us who were lucky enough to know you. You're our hero and we know you're up there, sharing a beer with the big guy and keeping tabs on all of us. Watch over Matt, keep your family safe and save us all a spot behind the gates. We love you.
Ashlynn, We love you, too and you know I will be right by your side at Arlington making sure it is a time of peaceful rememberance and respect.
And to all the members of the Guard that will be attending the services, thank you.

Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."
