| I am one of Specialist Jonathon Luke Luscher's brothers and I am sure that I can speak for the whole family. I want to personally thank you all for your words and prayers. It is nice to see so many great people who care for the Heroes. We are proud of his accomplishments and honor his courage for staning up for our country. We will most likely be depressed for quite some time. We miss him and love him very much. Our gratitude goes out to all of your for taking the time to reach our to our family. Your words are taken to heart and are helping our grieving. Our condolances go out to all of you who have also lost a loved one in the wars in the middle east. |

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.
Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.
Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Many of our citizens will never know the sacrifices made by those who defend our freedoms, or the sacrifices made by their families and loved ones…as a veteran, I know. Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”. Though I did not know Jonathan personally, his sacrifice and service to the United States of America makes him my “friend”. God be with you. |

Usually at a time like this I struggle for words to comfort a friend who has suffered a loss. The right words don’t often come, but if accompanied by the right sentiment they can be soothing. But I have learned over time that the best comfort at a time like this comes from those who watch over us. My beliefs allow me to be comforted by a certainty that I am watched over by those who have gone before me. |
