As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

To the family of SFC McKay, thank you for allowing the Patriot Guard Riders to honor his service and sacrifice. To the members of his unit, thank you for being there for SFC McKay's family and friends.

All three parts of this mission were accomplished successfully and safely. Many thanks to all the LEO's involved in the escorts. To the more than 53 PGR members of the PGR who rode the escorts, stood the flag lines, and so graciously donated your time to honor SFC McKay, thank you for doing the right thing. Well done ladies and gentlemen.

You are so truly appreciated, SFC McKay. I know you have been welcomed as a hero at heaven's gates by all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Joseph, and know that you will never be forgotten here.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. God bless you. Julie Francis, Matt's Mom
