Just found out about the patriot guard coming to pekin, IL to attend the funeral. I cant explain how much that means to people as im sure you guys hear that all the time. I was wondering how I should go about getting more info about this. I am a big member of the sportbike community around central illinois and we were wondering if we could help. There are a lot of us that would be more than happy to show up and show our respects. So what can I do to get more information on when/where etc? thanks

There's somebody named Chris, from Pekin I believe that appeared to be heading it up. I ran across a post on MySpace.com that had his info. I don't recall the phone number that he left though...I'll try to find out more if I can. Would there be an issue with meeting at the funeral home???

Here's the post from MySpace

Not sure if you guys have heard about the soldier from Delavan that was recently killed in Iraq. Basically there is a group that claim they are a church that go around to soldier's funerals protesting that God is punishing us for embracing homosexuality and what not. They carry signs saying things like "Thank god for dead soldiers" and "God Bless IED's". IED's are the bombs that are responsible for the majority of soldiers dying. IF you havent heard of the Patriot Guard check out their website at www.patriotguard.org Basically they ride around to these funerals and drown out the sound and sight of the protesters so that the soldier's family doesnt have to put up with them. Here's a post from their website.

MONDAY - 22MAY06 - Specialist. Ronald W. Gebur, 23, of Delavan, Ill

This mission is tentative scheduled for Monday in Pekin, Il. Exact dates, times and locations have yet to be determined. Service will be held in Pekin with a procession to the cemetery near Hopedale, IL

That's good , that will give everyone a chance to get back from Effingham and get it organized. So we can be there in full force to show our respect and appreciation of this great soldier. If you fly a US flag  at your home or business Let's join Gov. Rod's new proclamation and fly it at half-staff on the day of the fureral. Mine is at half-staff today in honor of Chief Donaldson Effingham.
