First I need to advise the time is the same but service location has changed to:

St. James Missionary Baptist Church
3417
E. MLK Blvd.
Austin, TX 78721

I am the BN Commander for this soldier and he was a fine one.  I pray the family will not hesitate to turn to unit because you are still part of our family and stand ready to help in any way.  He is going to be greatly missed.

I also want to the Patriot Riders to know I greatly appreciate all that the Patriot Riders have done and are doing - both in the gracious and kind words spoken about SGT Williams but also the other soldiers that during my tenure of command had to lay to rest.   Thank you.

Thank you all.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Reginald " Reggie " Williams,Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

As a very good friend of "Reggie" and a fellow soldier, I have to say thank you to the Freedom Riders and all other members of this board for the kind words and support of "Reggie" and his Family.

"Reggie" was the best of friends, he was always there when you needed to talk or you needed some help. He stood about 6'3" and weighed approx. 260lbs, hence the name Big Will, but it wasn't his size that made him Big it was his heart. He would come up with his thick hands and big smile, you couldn't help but like "Reggie".

We had a lot of good times in which I will never forget, his age of 44 was just a number, "Reggie" was much younger at heart. His wife Demetra was very supportive in everything he did and that's saying a lot because Big Will was always gone doing something, whether it be friends, Army, Work, or just riding his Harley. Big Will was at peace with life! Probably one of the hardest workers I know, he could fix anything, a real handy man.

I could go on and talk forever about Big Will, but he was never one looking for any praise. He would be telling me to shut up already. I look forward to the ceremony and celebration and finally one day getting to reunite with my buddy!

I love you "Reggie", I know that while you are not here that you are not very far away either! Your life and dedication to friends and family have been an inspiration to all. God Speed!

I had the honor of serving as Big Will's platoon leader during our 2004-2005 deployment to Iraq as a heavy engineer battalion. It was a hard deployment for everyone, but Big Will always kept a great attitude through the longest and hardest days. He was a good man and a good Soldier and he will be missed. His family is my thoughts and prayers. CPT Devon Cockrell
