From another former West Oak Lane boy may I extend, first, my undying admiration and respect to a fallen hero, Cpl. Michael Crescenz. Second, to your family, kudos to you on your hard work and success in having your brother transferred to Arlington National Cemetery. I've been there and never has any one place filled me with such awe. "It's overwhelming." I will be on the first leg of Michael's journey in spirit only, but I will be standing by on May 12 to ride with him to his final earthly destination. It will be an honor. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Cpl.Michael Crescenz,Thanks for being one of our heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.
We salute you , My Friend
Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, soldier. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime. When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord. It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don’t, I’ll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, soldier you’ve borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets; you’ve done your time in Hell."

| With Reverence, Respect and Honor we will stand at your graveside on Friday. As I knelt at your grave today the Valor and self sacrifice of November 1968 played thru my mind as I looked at your headstone. Reading Medal of Honor and Purple Heart seem so to little as I thought of the thousands of people who have passed you grave who didn't even know you were there. The people who even walked by your grave and didn't know of your ultimate Sacrifice. Your new resting place in Arlington National Cemetery is where you truly belong. Smile down on us Friday from your place with God in Heaven as we escort you. |

| We will be standing tall, to witness the moving of Cpl. Michael Crescenz, with HONOR to be with His Brothers and Sisters, at what will be His final resting place.
From Under the Headstones
The footfalls we hear and feel
From six feet down below
We know for certain, there is no doubt
They are made by those we know
Whether family, friends or visitors
No matter what the season
its understood by all below
They are all there for a reason
Some just curious, seeking famous names
But then there are the other’s
Who come to pray and weep
Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers
And when the footfalls start to fade
We return to our restful sleep again
Until the next time that we hear them come
To remind us that we are not forgotten.

A Soldier's Prayer (author unknown)
Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die.

May 2nd Report.
On Friday May 2nd the PGR stood tall a long with other Veterans for Cpl Michael Crescenz at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. There were 35 wheels along with 10 cages. An Air Force color guard stood at attention, as did a dozen white-helmeted members of the Philadelphia Highway Patrol Drill Team and several dozen Patriot Guard Riders holding your Flags high. Cpl Michael Crescenz was looking down from Heaven as the graveside service at his grave where his body had been buried almost 40 years. His smile warmed the afternoon air. Some of us heard the body count on the evening news that November 20, 1968. Some of us were still in country during that day. All of us on this day rendered Honor and Respect to Michael and his family.
When I wrote my request to Mayor Nutter for the Philadelphia Highway Patrol to attend Michael's graveside service and to escort his body to Downingtown I had no idea he would respond with the entire Philadelphia Highway Patrol, its Officers and Drill Team. Thank you Mayor Nutter. They looked great leading us down the PA Turnpike and a fitting tribute to the family of Cpl Michael Crescenz.
Thank you all for your presence.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Monday May 12 /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// On Monday May 12 the PGR will at the request of Cpl Michael Crescenz family take part in the escort from James J.
