I suppose, in a way, this has become part of my soul. It is a symbol of my life. Whatever I have done that really matters, I've done wearing it. When the time comes, it will be in this that I journey forth. What greater honor could come to an American, and a soldier?

I Remember You

When I walk into my church,

free and without fear,

I remember you.

When I see children playing in the school yard,

girls and boys of all kinds,

I remember you.

When I see families working together,

regardless of religion or nationality,

I remember you.

When I go to sleep

without worry for my family's safety,

I remember you.

When I see our flag waving in front of my home,

and when I can salute that flag without fear of reprisal,

I remember you.

When I remember you,

I think of the sacrifices you made so I could have these things.

I think of your commitment and your service

beyond mere duty.

I think of all that you have given

so that I and those whom I love can be free.

When I pray at night and give thanks

for the blessings God has given,

I remember you.

We mourn the loss of yet another member of “The Greatest Generation”. It’s because of the sacrifices of the past, so unselfishly rendered by heroes like Harlan Lyttle, that we have the freedoms our nation enjoys today. May the friends and loved ones of Mr. Lyttle stand proudly, knowing thousands of patriots across this country are very appreciative of those who have stepped up over the years, to defend America. Well done, Sir! I thank you for your service and patriotism.

Mission Accomplished – April 8,2008

Harlan J. Lyttle, WII Veteran

PFC U.S. Army

PGR members stood the Flag line of honor at the Funeral and Interment and lead escort for the procession to the cemetery.

What a nice turnout on such short notice for an American War Hero who fought in at least 3 major battles in the European Theater of Operations during WWII. Members present were Tom Epperly, Phil Maggard (Ghostrider), Jim and Christy Stevenson all from Kentucky! Shadow Wolf, Ron Young, Pat and Pat Hanifin, Sam and Jackie Sapio (new members!), and yours truly from WV. Also present to ride with us in the procession were members of the Brothers of the Wheel M/C (3 members) and Last Rebels M/C (9 members). Thanks to them for helping honor Harlan J. Lyttle's priceless service and sacrifice to preserve his country's freedom.

Present to perform honors at Interment were 2 members of the Army National Guard to fold and present the Flag to Jim Lyttle and the American Legion that performed the 3 Volley Salute and Taps.

Johnson-Hardy Funeral Home staff were gracious and provided members with bottled water as needed.

Notable as well were the number of pedestrians who stopped by to thank us for what we do!

Special thanks to Cristy Sapio for playing photographer for us, what a wonderful sport!

Long, long ago a Mother (Mary) asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Child have to die on a cross outside Jerusalim?" All the answers are so near the same. One died to save our Souls and the others died to protect our Freedoms.
