Mission Update

Sgt. Omar Mora was on the tail end of his second tour of duty and was schedule to come home in November from his 15 month tour. When returning from a night mission the vehicle Omar was in went off the road and he and six other soldiers along with two detainees were tragically killed.

Like many young Americans, Sgt. Mora joined the army after 9-11 in a sense of duty to country. He was promoted to Sgt in three years and wanted to join special forces. Omar came to the US when he as 2 years old and is classified as a permanent legal resident, to join special forces you have to be a citizen. Two weeks ago Sgt. Mora received his citizenship papers and was to sworn in as a citizen when he came home in November.

Sgt. Mora leaves behind a wife and 5 year old daughter, a brother an sister and his parents.

There is a lot of press reports going on about Sgt Mora and the Op-Ed story he and 7 other deployed Sgts wrote for the NY Times. Some say it was critical of the war and is a tool for the left. Other say it was 7 soldiers trying to get out what they have experiences on their tour, freedom of speech, a right they have defended.

Please understand this, none of this Op-Ed story or the media frenzy matters to the PGR.
This hero served two tours proudly serving his country. We will be there to honor him, his family and community when he comes home. This is what we do, we have no political stance, we stand for the those who stood for us.

Sgt Mora arrived at Dover last night. As of right now we do not know when he will be coming home or when his services will be. Please continue to stand ready to honor this fallen hero from our area.

Sargeant Mora, you may not have been born an American but your ideals made you one long before the government said so. As an American soldier you defended our rights by making the ultimate sacrifice - including our first amendment right of free speech. God will keep you safe now that your watch is over. May I have as much conviction in my beliefs as you had in yours. Thank you.

Sgt Mora, you are appreciated for your willingness to stand for our country. I know you have been welcomed at heaven's gates by all our fallen warriors who have gone before you. Rest easy now, Omar......you have completed your mission here, and you will not be forgotten.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice in defending and protecting our freedoms. As a nation we mourn your loss, and we will remember you always as a true American hero. To the family, I offer my prayers and support. I understand a little of what you are going through-my son, a Marine LCpl, was killed in Iraq. I pray wonderful memories of your dear warrior help eventually to ease the pain you endure today. Your hero will never be forgotten-he leaves a legacy of honor and courage that few will ever achieve. I would like convey my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American hero who stood tall for their homeland. I know this is a very sad time in your lives but remember you knew a hero first hand the rest of us just get to hear about them. Please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our Lord and Savior in heaven and the Lord said if I go to prepare a place for you,and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. Know that it says in the Bible in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 ,We are confident I say, willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a hero they were willing to serve when so many aren't or feel that they don't want to because of fear, because not just me but a country full of Americans are free because of the sacrifice they made in the name of freedom. May God Bless each and everyone of you
