************************   MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ********************

Today began as any other Monday for most Americans but, for the family of Jimmy Stewart, it began with the knowledge they would be saying their final "Goodbye" to their Father, Brother, Grandfather and great friend.

This morning 9 very dedicated Patriot Guard Riders, from different locations, gathered under threatening skies, some dodging raindrops to make the trip to stand in Honor and Respect of another of American's finest from the Greatest Generation.

As if on cue, as we arrived at the church, the clouds parted and brilliant sunshine greeted all those who were arriving to pay their final respects.  Although extremely hot and very muggy, all stood with flags waving in the gentle breezes until commencement of services.  Many of those arriving at the church made certain to thank us for our presence.

At the conclusion of services we, again, stood our line, this time alongside members of the local American Legions and VFW posts as Jimmy was moved from the sanctuary for the short journey to his final rest.  Again, we stood in silent tribute to him and his family as those from past conficts and eras rendered military honors at the gravesite.

I would like to, first, thank Jimmy's family for inviting us to attend this most solemn period in your lives.  Jamie, Jon and Jo Ellen, it was an honor to see/meet you.  Thank you for taking time from your Father's service to greet each of our members.  Know that we are all indebted to your Father for his most honorable service to this great country.

To the funeral director who's name escapes me right now, thank you for being so co-operative with us, helping to ensure that all went smoothly.

To all those who took time from their busy lives to do what we do, a special thank you for doing so on such short notice.  All who travelled from distant places, know that we could not do this without your dedication and participation.  To Mike and Ron, who were on their first missions, a special "Thank You" for being there today.  I hope we meet again, soon, under more pleasant circumstances.  Each and every one of you should realize that, at least for a short time today, you helped to ease this family's pain.

Finally, on a more personal note to Jimmy and Jamie.  I had the pleasure of knowing you, Jimmy, and working alongside you, Jamie, for many years.  The workplace at PPG was much better when you both were there.  I so looked forward to seeing Jimmy return on retiree's day for I knew he would be walking around with his ever present smile.  Not only have you and your family lost a great Father, Brother and Grandfather, but the world has lost a very good man.  Thank you, Jimmy, for your most honorable service to this great country during one of the darkest eras in our history.  You shall never be forgotten.  May God welcome you to your rightful place in Heaven among the angels.

Stand at ease Jimmy.  Your duty is now complete.  God Speed.
Respects,
Joe
