Thank you, Spc. Skold, for your selfless service in honor of our country. God bless you family, and we pray they find comfort in their loving memories of you.

Thank you for the mission you gave to your life in protecting our freedoms, and striving to give others, theirs. The lives of you and the men and women who have gone before you are raised high, and not given in vain. I honor you, and pray that our children will learn to do the same throughout coming generations. God bless your family, and may they keep their memories alive and rejoice in the life of a hero.

Grove City, Alexandria, Fergus Falls, St. James, Marshall, and Madison each were represented on the flag line for visitation. I am never ceased to be amazed at the dedication of the Patriot Guard Riders and the distances they travel to offer support. Thank you all.

The family members have read everyone's posts, and they thank you for your condolances.

My sincere condolences to the family of this Hero. May God hold and protect those they loved and those that loved them in this time of sorrow and grant them peace and comfort.

We mourn the loss of another defender of our freedom and thank them for their ultimate sacrifice. Greater Love has no man than to give his life for another. We owe this protector of the Rights and Liberty of the greatest Nation on Earth a debt of gratitude for their dedication to the preservation of our freedom.

Thirty eight Patriot Guard Riders stood watch to show Honor and Respect to the National Guard service of Spc. Brian Skold and to offer support to his family, including a couple who came all the way from Minot, ND, and a couple of young ladies accompaning their parents. When we arrived at the staging area, courtesy of the Madison Cenex, we found two large boxes of bars and treats waiting for us. To whomever brought them out, they were much appreciated!

We had the total support of the National Guard, local funeral directors (Zahrbock Funeral Home), and the Madison Police Department, whose chief, Stan Ross, stood ever vigilant watch against any unwanted attention, both at the visitation and the funeral, and also saw to it that we had a safe procession to and from the church and cemetary, assisted also by the Mn State Patrol. Ride Captains Paul Ramsbey and Jeff Anderson assisted, and both arrived at the staging with many riders from their sectors. A special thanks to ABATE members Deb and Paul, who were our contacts with the family of Brian Skold.

Dozens of military personel, most of them fellow National Guardsmen, attended the large "hometown" funeral.

The procession to the cemetary was led by assisting Ride Captain Jeff Anderson and three of Spc. Skold's National Guard comrades, Chad Turner, Scott Koenen, and Ann Hanson, followed by the rest of the Patriot Guard. The procession found themselves driving through two rows of parked cycles flying the colors immediately before the entrance to the cemetary, and found PGR members standing watch at the entrance and at each driveway in the cemetary. A flag line was formed around the interment, and remained until the end of the interment.

The parents and family members of Spc. Skold again expressed their thanks, with his father saying, "Brian finally got the motorcycles he always wanted."

Thanks to all who stood watch with us, in body and in spirit.

God Bless the memory of Brian Skold.

A thank you received from a family member (contact info deleted):

To Alan:

I am one of Brian's cousins and was an honorary pallbearer at Brian's funeral. I am going to be putting a memorial slideshow together for Marg, Bill, and the family & friends of Brian.

I am writing to ask your permission to use your photos in my memorial slideshow of my cousin. They do such a great job of showing not only how proud all of the Guard & Patriot Guard Guys were to be a part of the funeral, but also reflect the feelings of how EVERYONE felt to be there for Marg and Bill, and the rest of Brian's family.

I was so glad to see that someone was able to take (such good) pictures of the goings-on at the funeral in regards to the Nat. Guard & and the Patriot Guards presence there. There are many (majority family, and friends) that didn't see any of the Guard guys and the professionalism, respect, and honor that they showed Brian outside the church as he was being loaded into the hearse. Also in regards to the burial service at the cemetery.

Thanks so much for all you and the rest of the Patriot Guard to for the members of the military.
