My heartfelt condolences to the family of SSGT Tomkins. Thank you for doing the right thing and serving your country. It is with regret that I will not be able to make this mission, but family demands will make attending Friday impossible.

Thoughts and prayers coming your way this week as you prepare to lay to rest your loved one.

Avatar picture taken at Hector, Mn., Municipal Airport, where a T33 was erected in memory of my first cousin and best friend, Capt Robert C. Swanson, USAF, who died in service to his country in 1978, and in whose memory I ride with the PGR, to honor all who have served our nation.

People attending today's Mission for SSGT. Tompkins This is NOT about fashion, it's about Respect, for Jake, AND SAFETY for us. PLEASE, PLEASE dress for the weather.  I don't believe there will be a lot of fashion designers at this Mission, and there sure won't be any critics, so dress warm. They are forecasting wind chills in the single digits to low teens. PLEASE dress for it, and if you get cold, PLEASE seek warmth. There will be vehicles around for you to warm up in, mine included. We don't want any cold weather emergencies. If you are on the flag line and notice someone getting too cold, advise them to seek warmth.
My Ford conversion van will be running, and if you need to warm up, please use it. License number 531BB. It's got the PGR license plate on the front, and numerous PGR magnets/stickers on it.
Remember, RESPECT AND SAFETY.

Mission Complete
Franklin “Jake” L. Tompkins, Litchfield, MN

I woke up this morning with temps at about 5 degrees, it was downright cold!!. Staging was set at the Hand Stop East gas station in Litchfield. I pulled in right at 8 AM to find about 5 PGR members already standing out in the cold. Within 25 minutes we had 32 members present, what an awesome sight for such a cold morning. We had 2 very brave souls ride their bikes, as crazy as that may sound. Mike Remarke and Keith Schaefer, you two rock!!

Pat Fank, Chief of Police in Litchfield, escorted us down Hwy 12 to the funeral home to set up our flag line. Thank you Chief Fank! I cannot thank everyone enough for being there for “Jake”; he will always be remembered by many. This mission hit home for several of his co-workers and friends who are PGR members and were on that flag line.

Mike Remarke, ARC for this sector was busy helping to set up the flag line and let people know where to warm up and get hot coffee. Thank you Mike, your very close friend Jake was put to rest today with your PGR family surrounding him.

Thanks also to the Handi Stop South gas station who provided free coffee and hot chocolate to some very cold PGR members, your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.

Ron Reineke, our safety coordinator, was kind enough to speak to the local newspaper and give the story of why we were in town. Thanks Ron, I know that I can always count on you and I am sure the family appreciates you as well. The newspaper editor took many pictures and asked many questions. This was our first honor mission in Litchfield and I believe that the local newspaper will do an honorable story for Jake.

We also had the opportunity to meet a soldier today who is heading back to Iraq tomorrow. This soldier attended the funeral of Jake and stayed after the other family and friends left to shake our hands. We stood together in a group and had pictures taken with this soldier and thanked him for his service. Our hearts all went out to this young soldier and our prayers of a safe return to his family when his job is done.

I am still in awe of the members on the flag line who came out to honor this vet in the cold temps in a little town in the middle of MN. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough to your support today. I know that Jakes family very much appreciated our attendance and we gave Jake one of his last requests, which was to be there to honor him!

To the family of SSgt. Tompkins...
What words could possibly help during a time like this…
When we know not what we should pray for as we ought, the Spirit maketh intercessions for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26
So let not your heart be troubled, for your loved one has gone to the place which Jesus has prepared. Stand down soldier, your mission here is complete.

==============================

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

My sincerest condolences to Jakes family and friends. My heart and prayers go out to you for your loss. I truly thank you for allowing me the honor of standing the line for him this morning. It was truly an honor and a privilage.
I am always awed by the number of PGR brothers and sisters who brave natures elements to show the respect these fallen heros so richly deserve. As usual, you've done yourselves proud.
Lori, Mike, and Ron, well done. Well done all.
