Once again our state feels the loss, with two young men, Sgt. Joshua Hanson and Spc. Qixing Lee, giving the ultimate sacrifice for what they volunteered to do for their country--our country. Thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and fellow soldiiers of these young patriots.

No greater love hath any man than this, that he layeth down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

My thought and prayers go out to the family and friends of Sgt. Joshua Hanson.

From the Star tribune

"He and other National Guard members were on a four-day offensive patrol with Marines to try to kill or capture Iraqi insurgents, said Lt. Paul Zimmerman, speaking via telephone from Iraq. An improvised explosive device went off near the Humvee, rocking the vehicle and starting a fire. Hanson was seated closest to the explosion, Zimmerman said in the phone call for a news conference at the National Guard armory in Detroit Lakes, Minn. The other soldiers in Hanson's vehicle and some from nearby vehicles tried to pull Hanson out, but eventually were ordered to stop because ammunition in the vehicle was becoming a risk to their safety".

"It is a tragedy. It's a tragedy for Minnesota," Zimmerman said of Hanson's death. Of his family, Zimmerman said, "I've been thinking about them since that day."

He described the actions of the six who tried to save Hanson as "acts of heroism."

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Josh. He was a friend and a fellow soldier I served with for several years before transferiing to B Co 2CAB 136 Inf in Fergus Falls Mn. I was alos in Bosnia SFOR 14 with him. He was a very level headed and fun guy to be around. He will be greatly missed by all. Some gave all and all gave some. Freedom is not free and it is worth fighting for. Good Speed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Sgt. Joshua R. Hanson. We have lost another hero.

Standing by in Kasson.

It's not neccessarily the conditions you ride in, but how much you've prepared yourself to ride safely in them that will make a difference.
