Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Nettie Ward ,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
She hoped her shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as her brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared her shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unwomanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of her God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Thank you Nettie Ward, WWII sailor and I'm sure an amazing woman...THANK YOU for your service to this country. How wonderful that you lived a long, and I'm sure, a very full life that has left your family and friends richer for it. God bless you...and God Bless your family and friends at this difficult time. Even though we all know that life here is not eternal, we also know that life eternal awaits us at the side of our Lord. So you have not really gone..you just have moved over to the other side...rest and be joyous in youth once again, in health and in happiness forever more.

Beth

I Did Not Die

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

12 motorcycles and 1 cage escorted Nettie's 'funeral wagon' from the family home in Redondo Beach to her final resting place. We were joined by 5 motorcycles at the cemetary. PGR Navy pall bearers were volunteered and a Flag Line was stood for Military Honors. The family generously fed us at the residence before the escort and invited us back for lunch after the ceremony. It was a pleasure to honor this WWII vet and help a PGR brother from Oregon. RIP Nettie for your mission on earth is complete. You will be missed by your twin and family and never forgotten not only for your Navy service but your time on earth as a decent human being . . .
