Posted By DNStevens on 03/21/2006 9:43 AM John Kammerer ( USAF_MSgt_Ret ) and I will be departing from the church parking lot at the Southwest corner of 75 and Renner Road at 07:00 sharp Thursday Morning. Anyone wanting to join us are most welcome.
GOD SPEED TO ALL
Dutch PGR Ride Captain Richardson, Texas I will meet you there. May have one or 2 more coming. What is your planned route to Red Oak. oneshot, fishhook and I used 190 to centervillve to 635 to 20 for the PFC Tina Priest ride and we seemed to miss the majority of the traffic. 07:00 on 75 heading south will be very busy.

ChiefRoadmaster ............
You and others are more than welcome. Only a suggestion, but probable route will be 75 South, then I-45 to I-20. Then run West to I-35 and turn South. That way we can miss a lot of the traffic. If you have better route make the call, we will follow. Either way we can all depart from Renner and 75 at 0700 sharp.

mjsmith,
If you change your mind meet us at SW corner of 75 and Renner (church parking lot). Route not firmed up from there yet. ChiefRoadmaster may have a better route than the one I suggested.

That was a very cold and windy day when we stood for Gunny Fry. It was a great honor to do so for this man, this Marine, despite what mother nature brought.
A couple of pics from our first rally point in east Dallas (the few of us),

then to when we first arrived at the main rally point in Waco by the airport,

and then a video of after we had to move from the first parking spot in the photo over to the shell station because of the number of riders who were arriving to pay respects. The video is simply a walk around to show the number of folks who showed up to honor Gunny Fry that day (you can definately hear the wind).

It was a very cold morning on the road to Waco, Texas for the funeral of Gunnery Sgt John David Fry, a 28 year old father of 3, killed by an IED on March 8. The Tail-Gunner in the above picture was Boomer, a PGR Road Captain and one of the best Scrubbers in the business (i.e. when the tail-gunner shields the pack from on coming vehicles) There were over twenty Patriot Guard Riders from Houston the morning of March 23, 2006 -- plus a T (mine) being towed by my red Jeep... I know, I am ashamed but it was very, very cold. The guys that rode were saying that getting cold was a small price to pay to honor Sgt Fry. They are good people, people that care. There were over 200 Patriot Guard Riders from Texas at the Church in Waco, where Gunny Sgt Fry's funeral was held They all came to honor this fallen hero and his family. Nothing about the war being right or wrong -- just being there to say thanks for the family's sacrifice and to honor a young man that gave all that he could give. First in his class in all that he undertook throughout his brief career. There were no protestors in Waco that day... just the Patriot Guard, US Flags, and motorcycles everywhere. |
