John, It's a good Idea to bring your own Flag and pole. As there are those that don't have a flag, then any extra's can be shared if you like... oh, Welcome to the PGR. Johnny (81wing) Duran

I am coming to Frisco Thursday to attend some training.  Was going to be on 2 wheels but now I must be in the cage.  How far is the funeral home from Frisco?  I will have some other folks with me that are not PGR members.  Is it ok if they attend with me?  Also speaking of flags, does anyone know where I could purchase a breakdown pole for when I am on 2 wheels?
Thanks,
Sandra

Please excuse part of my last post.  I looked at 3 maps and finally looked at MapQuest.  Due to time constraints to get to Frisco and my thinking that Woodway was closer to Dallas than I thought; I will be unable to make this mission ride.

God Bless Gunny's family.

JOHN,

I'm in Richardson just south of you. Would you like to ride with me to Red Oak, then to Hillsboro ? We will hook up with others along the way. I am Air Force Vietnam Vet as well so we SHOULD be able to find our way.

North Texas staging areas for Sgt John D. Fry 23 March 2006

I have accepted a position of Texas Ride Captin and will serve as Ride Coordinator for the North Texas area.

If you have not noticed we had an excellent turnout and ride on the Temple Mission. We can do better, I urge everyone to make a maxamum effort to attend. With the UGs now protesting in Texas we need to present such a presence they will not want to return.

A possibilty of rain has been removed for Thursday so that will not be an excuse. I will re-post later in the week as needed.

I have just talley persons standing by and we curently have 130 riders commited on this thread from all of the Texas area. We have a good start so everyone get out and do some additional recruiting.

Riders using I-35E will stage at Whataburger in Red Oak Texas at I-35E and Ovilla Rd. We will depart at 8:15 sharp to meet riders using I-35W at McDonalds in Hillsboro Texas (exit 368a HWY 22 & I-35) across from Loves Truck Stop.

The combined group will depart 9:45 sharp for the Waco staging area at Macgregor Municipal Airport HWY 84 and I believe what is Val Verde Rd. There is a Shell Station at that location and just before the airport entrance.

Waco staging is 11:00 to 12:00 with plans set and releases signed we will depart for the church at 12:20

If you are unable to meet at either location, additional information and routing will be posted by the State and Ride Captains throughout the week.

Ride safe as we honor this fallen hero and his family

This is the final itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor  Gunnery Sergeant John D. Fry, who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.  The mission is a 'go' and all contacts have been made.

Services: Thursday , March 23rd, 2006 at 1300 hrs. at the Fellowship Bible Church, 5200 Speegleville Road, Woodway, TX.  Internment, with full military honors, will follow at Rosemound Cemetery, 3201 S. 12th St., Waco, TX.

Ride Captains:  Rollie Winfrey (Big R) and  Doug Smith (Streaker).  Their cell numbers are 903-388-0004 (Big R) and 903-724-1528 (Streaker).

Weather Report: Sunny with a morning low of 46 and a daytime high of 74 degrees. However, this is Texas and the weather is subject to change.  Dress accordingly with leathers for your own protection, and come prepared for anything and everything.  Bring flag poles and flags if you have them.  Flags mounted on bikes would be great, but if you have to "cage" it, bring your big flags anyway, plus any extras that you may have.  The order of the day is to provide a "sea of red, white, and blue".

Staging Site and Time:  From 1100 to 1200 hrs. at the parking lot of the Macgregor Municipal Airport, U.S. Highway 84 west of Waco.

From Dallas/Ft. Worth and all points north, and from Austin/San Antonio and all points south, approach Waco on I-35, exiting at Hwy. 6/Loop 340 (Exit 330) south of Waco.  Go 2.7 miles and then exit on Hwy. 84 to Macgregor (west).  After 7.5 miles there will be a Shell Station just before the entrance to the Macgregor Municipal Airport, both on the right.  That is your staging area.

Departure : All paperwork for releases, flag application and safety meeting will be completed by 1215 hrs.  Departure for the Friendship Bible Church will commence at 1220 sharp.   All bikes will present a uniform appearance with flags flying as we ride approx. 2  miles to the church in a staggered formation.  Anyone not able to stage at the Shell Station/Airport should meet at the church.

Please note:  We will be riding about 16 miles to the cemetery east of Waco after the service.  Our position in the procession will be decided later by the Fry family.

Please remember that our mission is to honor this fallen Marine and  pay our respects to his family.  Stand tall and proud in the best traditions of the Patriot Guard as we salute this American hero.

Ride safe and may God bless,

Doug Smith

Streaker,

Masterchief made that statement under the influence of Navy Rum. I was only trying to give him the senic route
out of DC ( I think ) and he thought I was lost. Of course I haven't sworn to that in a court of law.

I don't mind the chrome oarlocks so much. It's that damn chrome anchor he drags behind his bike !! But what does Masterchief know? He thinks that "roe vs wade" is two ways to cross a river.

Before this thread gets totally hijacked, I think I'd better direct us back to the business at hand, that of preparing to ride to Waco.

WEATHER UPDATE FOR THURSDAY, MARCH 23RD:

FOR ALL OF TEXAS, PARTLY CLOUDY TO SUNNY SKIES.

FOR POINTS NORTH AND EAST OF WACO, AND INCLUDING THE WACO AREA, TEMPS WILL RUN IN THE MID-30'S IN THE MORNING, WARMING TO HIGH 50'S AND LOW 60'S DURING THE DAY.  FOR AREAS SOUTH OF WACO THE TEMPS ARE PREDICTED TO BE A LITTLE HIGHER, BUT STILL CHILLY.

IN A WORD, COVER IT UP WITH LOTS OF LAYERS AND LEATHER, OR PREPARE TO FREEZE IT OFF ON THE ROAD.  AT 40 DEGREES TEMP. RUNNING AT 60 MPH, THE WIND CHILL IS AN ESTIMATED 25 DEGREES.  AT LOWER TEMPS AND HIGHER SPEEDS, FROSTBITE BECOMES A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY.  EVERYONE TAKE HEED AND DRESS ACCORDINGLY.

REFER TO THE INTINERARY WHICH HAS BEEN POSTED AND RE-POSTED.  RIDE SAFE AND WE'LL SEE YOU IN WACO ON THURSDAY.
