| As I was riding up from Iowa to Fairmont yesterday, My fingers started getting a little cold and I was thinking about May 6th, when so many of you Minnesota riders came to Iowa for Sgt. Walls funeral in Alden, The temps. were in the lower 30's, I still don't how you did it. It was my honor to join you in Welcome, to meet a great bunch people again. God bless the Posivo family. |

PGR,
The "thanks" goes to all of you. While we have a core group of members that worked their day and night to coordinate and organize this event, we do it in hopes of you all doing the right thing. You all did, thus thank you from each and everyone one of OGR captains and officers.
I have promised my family to spend more time with them so I am going to be brief (Shyeah, I know, you've heard that before) with a two final points.
Here is a list of vaious photos submitted thus far, truly amazing heartfelt stories showing one biker, to 12, to 100, to 450 on back down. This is the impact you, the one bikers has. This shows where one biker can make a difference, each of you is that biker.

I know we still have photo's coming in and will get them up here and out to all of you.
A special thank you to Colleen Swartz for coming in from Milwaukee as a free lance reporter covering the experience from a biker point of view. We all look forward to reading your article in Free Riders Press, Possibly Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly, Cycle Source and Easyrider if all goes well.
I would like to say thank you to all of the media for there accurate protrayal of not only what we do but, more importantly what we do. I think Barb Anderson said it the best "the biking community is tight, we're close" and yesterday in Welcome, MN we all felt that.
Sherriff Brad Gearhardt, Cheif of Police Greg Brolsma even Cheif of Police Phil Jones up north, your opennes to discussions and willingness to listen is what allowed all of together to make this impact and pay tribute. Thank you.
In closing I would like to remind al of Lisa's (Flagwaver) truly appropriate quote from Edmund Burke she chose: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing."
If any of you reading this would like to help and become an even more active part of PGR, we are in need of volounteers within PGR-MN. We need Ride Captains to help coordinate Central MN, Northern MN along with a variety of other roles within the group. The main item I need to stress is we need people that want to help others make a difference. People that can vocalize, "I can handle that task and equally important, "I cannot handle that task". We are looking for people that can simply own one area of responsibilities and make progress in that area. Please contact me if this something that interests you.
Thank you all and I am proud to say on this posting, "Together, we made the difference" Jim

I sit here reading your messages and reflecting upon yesterday's mission, I once again feel so many of those rollercoaster emotions coursing through me. Everyone has put into words better than I can the gratitude to so many for giving us the honor to pay our respects to LCPL Robert Posivio III and his family, friends and community. He was a young man and hero who was clearly loved and respected by so many. It was truly an honor to do my small part to help a family and community heal.
I do have a couple messages I would like to present:
TO THE POSIVIO FAMILY, FRIENDS AND THE COMMUNITY OF WELCOME AND THE SURROUNDING AREA: Please know that we will never forget the show of support that YOU gave to US as we road through your wonderful town one last time before heading back to the open road and our homes beyond. As the last bike left your community and the air was still with reflection - we did not take our love, support, gratitude and prayers with us. We are still with you in our thoughts and our prayers. May God comfort and keep you in the days ahead.
TO TOMMYE AND HIS SON WHO WAS ON LEAVE FROM IRAQ: It was an honor to ride with you from Worthington and throughout the mission. As we exited at Sherburn and you continued onwards giving us the thumbs up I was once again so very touched by the day's events and people like yourself who are an example and motivating source for all of us. If you should so wish, I would be honored to attend a welcome home celebration in 4 months. I haven't seen or heard this discussed before - but I would welcome the opportunity to celebrate and show gratitude for returning military personnel. I know that our leadership is taxed and does an excellent job keeping us informed of PGR missions and making all the necessary arrangements - don't want to add more of a burden. But I would suggest that we look into this as another way to show honor, respect, support and THANK our true American heros.
God Bless everyone - Mission Accomplished! |

I am truly amazed that it is possible to take people from every walk of life, who may not agree on a lot of things but all have at least one thing in common - the desire to properly bestow the honor and respect to the men and women who give their all for their country.
I took a few pics at the farigrounds, some didn't turn out to great...

Yesterday was one of the most moving experiences of my life. I met so many wonderful, caring people, and saw first hand what good people can do. I'm overwhelmed by the time and effort put in by so very many people, from the PGR state and ride captains, local groups that supplied water and food, the great law enforcement and EMS people, the incredible residents of Welcome, and hundreds upon hundreds of helpful, respectful and friendly bikers. Everyone worked together so smoothly you would think they'd been doing things like this for years.
I have posted pictures on my website... http://www.ducfarm.com/PGR/posivio.html
Feel free to use any that you like.

I have read so many of the posts today. It has been hard to keep a dry eye. Yesterday's events gave me an opportunity to (and I know yesterday was not about me) serve in a way I never have before.
The UG's were the initial impetus, nobody should spit on the grave of a soldier. Vietnam was another reason. I never served, I was just barely too young. Not too young to keep my parents from worrying and not too young to remember the way so many Americans literally spat upon our returning soldiers. Not too young to know...that should never happen again.
Thank you Robert Posivio and all the others who serve, for helping to keep our country free.
Thank you PGR for giving me the chance to thank generations of soldiers and to serve my country in some small way. Thanks to all who make the country the greatest nation in the world. I promise to be there again when needed.
God Bless you all. |

I just wanted to say that I feel privileged to be able to ride and stand next to a group such as this. I was reminded about PGR on the Friday evening news and went right to the internet to find information. I joined that night and was on the road at 3:30 am the next morning. There is no way I can describe the multitude of emotions I felt from the minute I hit the road till I finally got home. I'm sure that everyone that was there understands.
I want to send my personal condolences to the family, friend of Lance Cpl. Robert G. Posivio III. It was an honor to be there and it is something that I will never forget.

There's nothing more I can add to the previous posts as far as the experience, the emotions, the.......things that one feels and thinks when taking part in a mission. They've said it better than I ever can. I would, however, like to thank those who are not appreciated enough; the Ride Captains. Like most of us, I just get on the bike and ride to the missions and go where I'm told. These people put in more hours than we'll ever know co-ordinating every part of the mission, from meeting with the family, setting up the staging points and times from various parts of the state, getting with the appropriate LEO authorities to arrange escorts and traffic control, and probably a dozen other things that I have no idea about. Especially with the number of bikes yesterday; the logistics had to be a nightmare. I had the priviledge of thanking George and Kevin in person yesterday, and I'd like to thank the rest of you RCs who I saw and can't put names to. So the next time you see our State Captain or a Ride Captain, shake his hand and say Thank You. Or an IA, SD, WI, etc. SC or RC. They cannot be thanked enough for what they're doing. God Bless.

tommyeven,
Thanks for your support and for everything you are doing.
Please make sure that your buddies in Iraq know that there are many of us back here who support them every minute of every day.
I have to wonder what the troops think if all they hear is what is in the media. I know that there used to be a lot of celebrities and VIPs that would show up in Iraq and other military installations, but that type of support has faded substantially.
Let them know that there are people who continue to stand behind them, continue to think of them, and continue to be grateful for their willingness to make HUGE sacrifices for their country. Please tell them that there are many of us who will never forget their sacrifices.
God bless you and be safe. |

I was honored to be a part of the events on Saturday. I had heard of the PGR a few months back but never made it to your website to check you out. I was called by a friend of mine Friday evening, angry because he couldn't get out of work because he wanted to ride. When he reminded me again of what you do I immediately went to the website and signed up. It was a moving experience that I will not forget. My wife was a little irritated that I cancelled our Saturday plans late on Friday night but she understands. If asked she will tell you that the most rewarding experience of her life was when she was attached to the funeral detail in the Navy. To be able to honor our fallen servicemen is something I cannot describe in words.
I was amazed by the level of organization and coordination that had to go into everything in such a short period of time. The ride captians did a tremendous job to throw all that together and to rally 500 bikers from all over the region in that time is incredible. I hope we don't have many missions such as these in the future but if there are it would be a Privilege and an honor to participate. |

My brother and sisters of the PGR, you people are totally awesome!!! You are my family and i love you all.
I ride from Niagara Falls Ontario. I used to live in Anoka. We recently did a mission in Ogdensburg NY for the Sovie family. Please have a read at our mission. You will in a sense be reading of your own mission.
Very soon we will be on mission for LCPL Posivio's friend in Pittsburg. I pray that the unwanteds are not there.
Please know that we will carry on with your love and prayers as we continue to honour these men.
This will be my third mission. Everytime i go i shed tears. When i hold up that American flag, I am more the proud to know that I am doing what i can to serve the PGR and our soldiers and families. When i see the veterans out there along with the soldiers and the other towns people, I know that together we are one.
I can only say thank you. That is not enough but it is all i have. Know that I am with you on every missoin you do. I could not have picked a better family to belong to.
God bless you all that participated in body and spirit.
Yours Diane Rose aka slider Canadian Armed Forces vet (frmr)

surrounding Welcome: I have the deepest gratitude for your invitation to show our respect for an American hero.
I know none of us will forget the sacrifice he
made in serving our country.
It was an honor to be a part of the Patriot Guard Riders in Welcome. I
want to thank our Ride Captains and State Captain; your leadership was
excellent. Please tell your families that we appreciate their patience,
as we can only guess the hours and hours you put into this at their
expense and your own.
Lance Corporal Posivio, we salute you. May you rest in peace.

Many thanks,
This mission was my boyfriend and my first mission......I was very humbled and proud to be part of what this organization does and stands for. Thank you so much for the opportunity to stand with so many. Thank you to the RC's and SC for your organization and communication, with such a large group in one place I am sure you had your hands full. Thank you to all the LEO's for the help, even though one of you would not leave your post to give a poor tired lady a ride to her bike.....hahaha.....thank you. Thank you to the dear lady that did take time out to take us to our bikes, if she hadn't we would never have made it there in time to participate in the final parade. A specail thanks goes out to the city of Welcome, even in 80 degree heat the goosebumps I had during the final parade down main street made me feel that no matter if there were 5 or 500 of us we were appreciated.
A final thank you goes out to the Fairmont Motorcycle Assoc. for the food they provided, after 10 hours it was greatly welcomed.
To the family, thank you for inviting us. In your time of grief I hope we were able to give you the memory that your son was greatly honored and appreciated. God be with you.
Teresa aka Hussy North Branch
PS....I am going to be working out from now on.....that walk made me realize just how out of shape I actually am...hahahaha |

Wow. What an amazing experience. Saturday was the first time my dad has participated in the PGR. We all (as a family)drove from Glencoe, MN, with my dad on his bike and my mother, sister, and myself in the firebird. My mom, sister and I handed out waters to whoever needed it. It felt great to be a part of this! Like I said earlier, it was an amazing experience. I am very proud of everyone who participated and made this MISSION a success. I hope that this doesn't become a weekly MN occurance, but am very proud to be a part of this cause. My thoughts are with the family of Lance Corporal Robert G Posivio III. Daughter of a Gulf War Veteran. |

Speechless. There is absolutely nothing more that I can add to what has already been said on these pages, other than to thank once again all the planners, participants and welcoming residents of the area. Also met some wonderful people who feel the same way (see Glencoe post above...)
To see the river of Colors on the street was are-inspiring to say the least. My heart goes out to the Posivio family and friends, and for the final rest of their hero Robert III.
This was my first ride, made alone after seeing a short segment on the 10pm news the night before. I have been spreading the word all weekend and will continue to do so. Although I pray it doesn't need to happen, any more rides I attend will certainly involve my teenager on the pillion- in our society today it seems that often there is not enough importance is placed upon service to our country and the respect that these men and women are due, both those that return home and those that don't. The younger generation needs to witness this firsthand to feel that sense of pride, too.

Words fail me. But I would like to thank Jim SC for the faith. George who went with to see the family. Tom W who did all the orginization. The town of Welcome who lived up to thier name with food, water and standing by our side to show the world that honor is alive and well in the heart of America. Thanks to Tom Even III and his dad for allowing me ride with them and taking precious time from his leave to honor robbie. I would like to let the Posivio family know how honored I was to be a part of their most private of times. They have given much for me and my family. I have two sons and a daughter--I cannot begin to imagine what the Posivio's are going thru but please know how much I truely am in awe of you and your sons. You have given everything so I and my family live free. The small sacrifice of a few hours of our time does not even come close to what Robbie has done for us. Thank you from my family to yours. My first mission with Patriot Guard Riders was a day I'll never forget. Ridiing through town en masse after the funeral. The street filled with people waving and clapping as if WE were the heroes. We were just regular folks doing what they love to do while honoring a REAL HERO. My eyes were filled with tears as I rode by .............a sentiment shared by others Enge |

Son got off the plane Thursday night and I told him what I had planned. 3 words, "lets do it". These young soldiers overseas are keeping an eye on what we do, anticipating when they get home on honoring the heros like we do. Don't let'em fool ya folks they appreciate what we are doing for their brothers as much as the families do. Now let me tell ya about riding with him. Every pothole, manhole, or patch of fresh asphalt on the road even the road kill and piles of dirt on the side make him jittery. Heck, even when night*sky was on the overpass taking our pic coming down the road, Tom saw him at the last moment and I saw the wheel jerk. "Not so bad coming up to him, just didn't know what was on the other side" he says. But he continues to keep riding that bike, making the old man proud. Besides the Posivio mission, I don't think he's gotten out of the seat yet. You all did a fine job Saturday, from the Captains, LEO's, down to the support vehicles, Made me and my son proud to belong to a group like this. The sun-burn and standing long hours is worth it to honor our young heros. Will ride with any and all of you guys any time, mission or not. Wish we could have hung around longer after the services to talk trash with you guys, but Moms had us on a tight schedule since he's been home, and there is sometimes just not enough time for everything. Saturday the 10th we will be in Algona Ia for the HOG-MDA poker run out of Earnies H-D if any of you want to join in. Until we meet again, Ride safe. Oh yeah, don't give your name to Kevin Peterson, He'll bring ya out in front of 450+ "trashy bikers" and leave ya speechless. LOL. Thank you guys and gals every one of you. Lcpl Posivio, Rest in Peace brother, and say Hi to my Dad for me. Nuff said...............One more thing, whoever made the sandwiches before we left Welcome, THANKS. That hit the spot. |
