My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Matt Maupin.   I cannot begin to imagine what you have been going through during this terrible ordeal.   I have been wearing Matt's POW/MIA bracelet since they became available after he was listed as MIA.  We knew through TV that he was a POW...  and we now know that his captors were nothing more than murders.

I have kept Matt's name alive and had hoped for a positive conclusion to his capture.  I pray that you can find some peace in knowing that Matt is home and can now receive proper respect from a greatful American people.   Thank you Matt for your service, we mourn your sacrifice along side your family.

I would be happy to send his bracelet to the family should the wish to have it.

God Bless you all, and God Bless Matt...   a True American Hero.

This american hero will never be forgotten buy all that knew him and those of us that wished we did. I have followed any progress that there was about SSG Maupin, the info was slow coming but I was on his web site often. Two years ago I was able to get a dog tag at Rolling Thunder , D.C. with Matt's name on it and used it as a daily reminder of what Matt had done for us. He was dully mentioned in D.C. I wish his family and friends all the heartfelt condolences that one man can give.

I've been to the April 9th vigil in Bartonville, Ill. with the 724th. It is a very moving day. I understand that plans for this year are still on except that this year will now be a memorial. It will be an honor to be apart of that day. My prayers go out to the family. May God comfort you during these days. Thank you for all you've done through the Yellow Ribbon Support Center. My prayers also go out to the 724th, thank you for your sacrifical service.

I Remember You

When I walk into my church,

free and without fear,

I remember you.

When I see children playing in the school yard,

girls and boys of all kinds,

I remember you.

When I see families working together,

regardless of religion or nationality,

I remember you.

When I go to sleep

without worry for my family's safety,

I remember you.

When I see our flag waving in front of my home,

and when I can salute that flag without fear of reprisal,

I remember you.

When I remember you,

I think of the sacrifices you made so I could have these things.

I think of your commitment and your service

beyond mere duty.

I think of all that you have given

so that I and those whom I love can be free.

When I pray at night and give thanks

for the blessings God has given,

I remember you.

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son
