Hello everyone, its Josh from Huntsville

Well, I have to say that I was absolutely amazed today.  This was my first ride, and I dont think that I have ever met a group of people more welcoming than the PGR.  I truly enjoyed the experience, and was completley moved when I saw the family's reaction (especially her sister).

I took quite a few photos, they are posted at http://photos.yahoo.com/pyrplhaze
Feel free to look through them, there are 29 pix.  These pics are sized smaller than actual size, if you want a higher resolution copy of a certian pic, email me at pyrplhaze@yahoo.com with the pic # that you want the high res copy of and I will see to it that you get it!

Thanks once again to everyone.  I am only 23 years old, and sometimes get the feeling that I am not welcome when riding with older people.  I did not feel that way once today, as a matter of fact, I felt the complete opposite.  I truly appreciate the open arms, and I hope everyone made it home safely.  The weather sure did turn out pretty nice after a mediocre morning.

Ride Safe!
Josh

We have made several missions lately and they have all been rewarding and memerable. But this is the first time I have witnessed a town coming to a stand still as in Smithville today. While many people ware amazed by the turnout of PGR to honor this fallen hero it was more than the astonishment of the motorcycles and their riders.

This was a special person in the hearts of this entire community,I don't know if you noticed, every car stopped, people on the street saluted one lady got the only flag she had (a Texas flag) but it still showed the respect and reverance due this soldier.

I have never witnessed a school flying flags at half mast with teachers and students out with hands over their hearts. Local law enforcement departments, in number, at the grave sites. Again, This must have really been a special person.

I feel America has lost someone with a lot of potential, able to contribute and make a difference.

I just wish I could have met her before she made the ultimate sacrafice I feel I would have been trully blessed.

My deepest condolences to the Priest family on the tragic lose of their daughter Tina, who gave all for our great nation. The PGR helps express the sorrow of our nation and the respect we have for the sacrifices made by our defenders of freedom. R.I.P Tina Priest and may HE provide strength to your family during this time of grieving.

The Houston riders dodged a bullet today as we pushed through the squall line that went through this morning. Shortly after we left the staging area it hailed there. Luckily we missed it and most of the bad weather on the way to Smithville.

We had 13 total make the trip from Houston under a severe weather warning, 11 were newbies thank you for taking the time to honor Tina. You are all now experienced PGR members. Thanks to Catfish for taking the lead while the two Houston RCs caged it. A special welcome home and a job well done to Josh and David who both served in Iraq. Honda Bob, Biff, Earthquake, David thank you for your service and for riding with us today. I know I missed a few, sorry it’s late.

Former Houston councilman and mayoral candidate Orlando Sanchez rode with us today. Unfortunately Mr. Sanchez was defeated in his bid for Harris County Treasure just two days before and yet was riding with us today. Thank you for your service Orlando and for riding with the PGR.

Tad, you did a great job today running the show!

I have a story to share with you all about my 17 year old son Chase who lives in Smithville,Tx with his mother. Today while he was at school during the funeral procession for Tina Priest, a comment was made about all of the motorcycles in the procession, he stated that it was probably the Patriot Guard riders. His coach asked him what is the Patriot Guard? Chase went on to explain to his coach and his classmates the mission of the Patriot Guard, and what we stand for, and they were all amazed at what we do for our fallen soliders. It really makes me proud to have explained the Patriot Guard to him , and for him have the chance and knowledge to educate his class mates and his caoch on the mission of the Patriot Guard. Great job to everyone that was there, not only did yall represent the Patriot Guard and help the family pay respect to a fallen solider, yall helped my wonderful son spread the word about us. Words cannot express how great I feel right now. And all this time I thought he didnt listen to anything I told him.

I have read all the posts from this mission and it is obvious that we all had the same feelings. Feelings that can only be felt by having actually been there. Many posts have mentioned the citizens of Smithville, the teachers and students, the law enforcement, the firemen; The General, the people as they came out of the Church, and of course Tina and her loving family (God Bless Them). But there was one thing I have not seen in the posts. Did anyone besides me notice the "Unknown Biker?" He was riding down the highway from Smithville. You could hear him coming from quite a ways out, But as soon as he topped the hill and saw the funeral in process, he idled her down and coasted well past the cemetery, then increased his throttle just enough to get him farther away from the funeral before resuming his ride. Folks the PGR is a wonderful concept. I am fairly sure that we made a lasting impression on the citizens of Smithville. But I know for sure that Smithville made a lasting impression on me...
Tad you did a super job yesterday. Thanks for making me feel welcome from the "get go." I will definitely be making every Mission possible. And A special Thank you to the beautiful and gracious "Muffin Ladies." The Muffins were delicious and your reasons for doing what you did is what makes this whole thing work.

TC, I remeber the bike you're talking about quite well. I remember when I heard it coming thinking, "Oh crap. One of our folks is late and rattling the pipes". Then I heard him throttle down and coast by until he was WELL past the cemetery. I smiled and thought, "We need that rider as a member".

I can't think about the pride in yesterday's mission and the conduct displayed by all without getting teary-eyed. You people of the PGR.........there are just no words.
Simply, "Thank you".

p.s. I have my PGR cap sitting on the desk next to me. Simply looking at it brings a smile to my face that these people I work with just don't understand...........yet.

I am one of the 11 newbies out of Houston, and I have been Blessed by what happended yesterday... words cannot express what I feel ... Josh (Huntsville) thanks for riding back with me, looking foward to riding again. Below is part of a Devotional I post everyday: I just feel news about this group needs to get out. ************************************************* Patriot Guard Riders Yesterday I had the priviledge of riding with a group of bikers for the first time in Honor of a fallen soldier here in Texas. I was so overwelmed by what I saw, not only for what the "Patriot guard riders" did, but also being "thanked for my service" by a one star general of the U.S. Army, and the family of this fallen soldier. All we did was what Bikers like to do "Ride" and stand in silent Honor, flying our American flags in support of what the Troops do. Makes me think about what we should be doing as Soldiers for Jesus (Christians). Being there for each other even if we fall, The good news is, if we fall, we can get back up again, and with a little help, we can get up sooner than later. This Fallen U.S. soldier attended a Baptist church in Smithville, Tx. so i am confident she, yes this soldier was a young lady, just 20 years old ... is with Jesus, in Paradise! When we all get there, we will be thanked for our service by the one that is over all Generals! ... Jesus! ... "Well done, my good and faithful servant" Let's all continue to show silent honor not only to the fallen U.S. soldiers serving in the military, but to all of our fellow Christian soldiers, wherever you might be. I am looking foward to being thanked by Jesus, are you? For more info on this group: www.patriotguard.org

well said 81 wing, I was the one with the truck and trailered bikes from friendswood. I brought my neighbor and he was moved beyond words. I've been a member for 3 months but due to work, I was unable to participate. I have since changed jobs and being at the new company only two weeks, it spoke volumes about them when they readily let me go to participate, unlike the old company I worked for.
New PGR members daily and my neighbor is now one as well. ride on PGR, tall and proud, we will serve. God and Country
Thanks for the opportunity to ride and serve with .

I completly agree with all who have posted before me. It was a truly moving expierence, the mourning family thanking the PGR, the community, the 'unknown biker' (we do need him, he did what we represent) the school, the Fire dept and General Campbell taking the time to personally thanks each and everyone of us as well as speaking to us after the service. A special thanks to the Road Captians for a job well done. Every thing was lined out and squared away.

One more thing that exemplifies what the PGR represents. The Chief would not start after the second stop to pick up more of the North Texas PGR. We looked at the situation, decided to push start the Chief. We were successful, but what really sets the standard is the fact that I was given the opportunity to proceed with the group even though through out the day we to "manually" get the Chief fired up. Thanks to Double D, Oneshot, Ray and the other manual start team members. The first beer is on me March 25 and the next North Texas meet n greet. This was the most memorable Birthday and one of the best days of my life.

I'm a proud member of the PGR and am standing by for the next mission should we be asked. This is by far one of the most honorable things we can do.

God Bless Tina and her family and friends, you are in our prayers and our hearts.
