Gentlemen and Ladies, FYI, there is a huge car show in Kansas City this weekend at the Kansas Speedway which is right by Cabelas where you are meeting. Traffic will be horrible, please be safe.

I've decided to ride with Stretch, and the Patriot Express, to Dodge City. What an honor to be escorting a piece of the Pentagon from 9/11. Will see you all in the AM at the Cabelas parking lot.

Mission Completed .The Pentagon stone arrived in Dodge City Kansas Saturday Sept. 2nd Approx 6:00 P.M. with National Guard Ecsort And Approx. 40 Riders. We met with the Missouri Escort Group at the Cabelas Lot. The Handoff was made after a short a meet & greet. No media present. I thanked the Missouri Group I wish I could have done more than shake their Hand. We headed down I-70 for the final leg, I believe we all rode very proudly, the rain & cold mayhave dampened the day, but not spirit of the Mission. We had riders join and depart along the 325 mile run to Dodge all were glad to have made a portiion,or all of the Final Leg. We stopped outside of Dodge To palce our Flags on and remove the rain gear. Again Law enforcement was there to assist & escort us And Our Historic Precious Cargo to Wrght Park & Liberty Garden. After a short welcome by Dodge City officials & a thank you, photos were taken of the Stone & the entire escort group. A long day, A warm feeling in my heart our Mission completed. Thank you to all involved, we alone can do little, together we can do all. Everyone from riders to State Captains ,support vehicles, ride captains, those there in spirit, the husbands, wives and children at home, that understood what it meant for this Ride this mission to go forward, the personal sacrifices from all of you, I can only say Thank You. I am so Proud to Ride with all of you.

We got up at 4am, was on the road by 4:30 and at the Capital in Jeff City by 6:30...It was a 500 mile trip for us...after the hand off we went back a different way to see some country. The weather was overcast and a little chilly but the feeling we had warmed us up. We ALL were a part of history. Some day we hope to bring a future grandchild to Dodge City, show him the stone and tell him that Grandpa and Grandma were among many riders across our great nation to see that this stone made it to this very spot. "It's just a rock grandma" he'll probley say, but i'll tell him that the "rock" he is looking at witnessed a terrible act of murder and hate....that our lives after 9-11 changed in many ways....that his family spent a worried weekend after that, thinking of what was to come....that his great grandma laid dying in a nursing home watching the bombs fall with his daddy and me by her bedside. I'll tell him that "the rock" witnessed an every day moment stop still. I'll tell him that folks went to work, stood by the water fountain, answered the phones, drank coffee, boarded a plane to visit far away family or fly to a celebration and that "rock" witnessed all those lives change in a blink.
As my husband Vern (car_doc4) led our Missouri Group from the capital to Kansas he leaned over his shoulder and said, "this is one anniversay we'll never forget, huh honey"....and he was right. We were very honored to be a part of this PGR Special Mission on our 28th wedding anniversary.
Here's a few pics i took.

and Kansas PGR staging for the final leg of the escort.

I was promiced a link to the news story by the reporter in Jeff City...i'll post that when it arrives.

You could try to zip it and send it to my yahoo addy. crazy_eagle1@yahoo.com. If it comes thru, I will convert it for you and send it back, along with the player to install on your website, or I can put it in my photo secton on my website for you.

I finally found some time to load up all the photos I took on the 2 days I was part of the transfer. I have them up, but have not yet organized them in order, as I named them all and the folder places things alpha style.
To look at the photos, go to: http://www.CrazyEagle.com/mission.htm and scroll to the bottom of page for the link to the two photo pages. I have them in galleries and they are thumbnails. Click on them and they will open up to a medium size. Had to edit them as the originals are huge 3 meg. size. I hope that you get to enjoy.
Glad the ROCK is safe in it's new home!

| Stretchnit: Thanks for posting the We Will Never Forget link. Very good link. And thanks to all 51, 000 + PGR members for answering the call to honor and respect our fallen heros. I am so proud to be called a Patriot Guard Rider. That is because of my brothers and sisters that ride through the dark and the rain and the cold, stand in the fiercest heat of summer and sacrifice their personal vacation days, sick days, overtime pay, family time, out of pocket expenses and the list goes on and on, to be a silent and unmentioned face in a sea or Red White and Blue to honor and respect a stranger. A stranger who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our way of life. This Patriot Guard Express mission is just another example of how you answer the call. Can you imagine the red tape involved if any government or any local, state, federal agency or charitable organization of any kind were to try to organize what we just accomplished in just a few days notice? I was asked today, "who runs this organization?" Think about that question if you will. For most cannot conceive that such an underatking can be done by volunteers with no formal headquarters, no formal meetings, no board of directors, no treasurery, no hand out for donations. I once read a letter of appreciation from a lady who said we came quietly in the night, and when the mission was done, we left just as quietly, before she had a chance to say thank you. None of us ask for or expect a thank you. None of us ask for expect media attention. None of us ask for or expect financial reimbursement of any kind. We only ask that we continue to be allowed the Honor and the Priveledge to be there for the fallen's family to show our Respect and Honor. I have no doubt that we will continue to be asked, because all of you are hororable and patriotic Americans who unselfishly give of yourelf with no other agenda in mind but to be of comfort to those who have sacrificed so much. Patriot Express, JOB WELL DONE! Proud to have been a part and proud to be called "Patriot Guard Rider". Thank you one and all; "Groundhog" |

Just wanted to let you all know we made it home safe and sound. It was supposed to be a 2 mission weekend for Ruffy and I. The first one being the escort of the Pentagon Stone, the second an honor ride in Tulsa, Ok. We didn't make the honor ride for RobDob57's Uncle. Bad timing on our part, Sorry Rob my fault for mis-calculating.
What an honor it was to escort this Pentagon stone to Dodge City. The place where my first mission took place, for Sgt. Jesse Davila. And the same ride captain, Ralph Rojas. Is that symbolic or what? We left home at 6:20 am, Saturday, rode to K.C. to meet with the rest of the PGR members that were waiting to escort the stone. Upon arrival of the Missouri Pgr contingency, there was a brief ceremony, and the stone changed hands. Pictures were taken. It was loaded into a Humvee provided by the Kansas Army National Guard, and driven by Spc. Barlow, and Spc. Hovokra. Thank guys it was much appreciated. Then with State Trooper escort, we headed for Dodge City via I-70. When we hit the Turnpike the troopers peeled off and we were on our own. At the fuel stop in Junction City it begin to sprinkle. As we headed for Salina the sprinkle turned to rain. Another first for Ruffy and I, I had never driven in rain before. As we zipped down the Interstate, I watched the guys ahead of me kicking up rooster tails of water, I thought to myself, what in gods name am I doing here. Then it dawned on me I have a choice, the people killed on 9/11 didn't. I'm doing this for them. We made a fuel and food stop in Salina. Picked up some riders from McPherson. The Salina area LEO were on the job, allowing us easy access off and on again. Thank you guys. The rain ended West of Salina, and other than being chilly, it was a smooth run. Stopped in Great Bend for fuel and picked up a few more riders. At Jetmore we made a short rest stop, then it was on to Dodge. We stopped a couple of miles from town to flag up the bikes. Then with LEO escort again in place we made the final ride to Wright Park. After a short ceremony, plenty of pictures, the riders were given little sheriffs star pins. Then we all headed for home or the motel. Mission completed !!!!!!!!! Below is a link to the pictures taken by Ruffy. Thanks dear.

OH! Great! Groundhog. Now you make me feel bad for even mentioning the rain in my ride report.
I remember that letter you are reffering to. And its true, we don't expect thanks.
I gotta tell you this. I was in my wife's sewing shop the other day. A young lady pulled up out front and came in, ask me if I was with the Patriot Guard. My bike was sitting out front. I said, Yes Maam. She shook my hand and said, "Thank you for what you do". I just said, "Thank you back". She started to go out the door, but instead, came back and shook my hand again, And said, "Thank you again". I didn't know what to say. I just get tongue tied.

From all of us in Dodge City to every Patriot Guard member who was involved in the transfer of this important piece of history. I want to thank you for you sacrfice, the long rides, cold rainy days, and the dealing with the cagers who thought they some place to be and thought we were just a bunch of bikers on our way to a party.
This ride has changed and touched people all across this country just by meeting us at our stops and reading the posts placed on this site. The people we have met along the way has made it possible for people to start to heal, but never forget.
Our mission has not changed nor will it. We ride for the fallen and stand for the families. Led by our founders, our national and state captains. I rode with Rojas all the way to Kansas City and back, a ride I will never forget. Met other members of the Patriot Guard and they make me proud to be apart of what we do.
On September 11, 2006 in Wright park Dodge City, Ks at 6:00 P.M. there will a dedacation of the piece of the Pentagon. I know all involved will not be able to attend, the Patriot Guard has been asked to ride in. There will be more details to follow.
Again thank you for what you do.
Zorty Its not what you ride. Its what you stand under!! |

Allright. Mission Accomplished. Glad I was able to take part.
Just got my Shanksville photos back today ... dropped 'em at Walmart & then rode down to Shanksville for another visit, spotted somebody's PGR arm-patch stapled in amongst the LE & FD patches, my lapel pin's still in the beam where I stuck it a while back.
Ryan, I was in D.C. with my wife last week & was going to get a photo of the Pentagon to send ... not allowed to do that any more, so we just had a good, long look ... and was thinking about this Mission & everyone involved. They're building a huge memorial right now in front of the area that was struck. It'll be something to see when it's done! Best wishes for an excellent dedication ceremony at your park.
Ride on. Joe |

GREAT pics blueangel. Turns out I had my camera with me... it just wasn't where I thought it was... so I tried to take pics with my new cell phone... apparently, I was one step shy of actually SAVING them! *frownz* So I had NO luck with pics that day.
Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. I had the BEST time! I wish I could have stayed and hung around and played a little in the area, but my gut kept telling me to get on the road and get home.
So I made it home safely and now I have a great story to tell. I even have a picture! And if anyone else got pics of the ride from JC to KC, email them to me if you will.
Also, I tried to get on the Newtribune website and read the story and I can't find it. I'm sure it's probably operator error *L*
Anyway, thanks again for everything everyone... next time I won't get coffee so I'll have time to get my jacket zipped up!! *L*

Folks... attached is a copy of the patch that I put together for the Pentagon Stone to Dodge City mission.
The back ground needs to all be black with the US outlined in gold and those states that are currently black would be gold also. The states that the stone passed through would be turquoise. The stars would remain the colours that they are and the wording also. I clipped the 'express delivery' imagine from the other patch and placed it into the design.
Will be in touch with the PGR store to see what can be done to produce the patch accordingly and to provide and accurate reduring for everyone.
Thank you,
