Thank you all who rode today for BU1 Tharp. I can honestly speak for the entire US Navy family, when I say you all gave a good showing of yourselves , and we as a Navy thank you deeply. I wish I lived closer than I do. I would have been there. I hope the family knows that the Navy feels the sting as well.

I know this old salt encrusted mud slinger of an airdale Corpsman sure does. One tour I regret turning down in favor of another airwing billet, was a SEABEE battalion. I want the family to know this one hit deep. I'm a retired first class, same age and in my line of work, I could have just as easily been along side him. I wish I had, maybe I could have been of some comfort.

Got home about 10:45 pm, and, even though very tired, we really had a wonderful experience with all of you folks.

We met so many new faces (even though the names don't always come, just when you need them), and it was an honor to stand with all of you and to show our appreciation to Jerry and his family. His was the ultimate sacrifice for his country, and, though we have never met him, we will always remember him.

I do believe that Jerry and God protected us from the rain, wind and hail as we zig-zagged thru the country side, over hills, mountains & gullies escorting Jerry on his last "road trip" to all his favorite places. Only a few sprinkles on the windshields, maybe to mask the tears, but it was all well worth it to escort him to his final resting place. Also, a very big THANK YOU to the invite for supper and the FANTASTIC food. Much appreciated. Jerry, ours prayers are with you and your family. God Bless

I just wanted to thank everyone and I mean everyone who helped with this mission as this one was close to the vest for me. It was a two mission day for some of us, but would do three if we had to. Thanks again to the Tharp family for inviting us to help honor our hero. This was very moving for all of Mercer County. Once again thanks for all that went out of their way to help.

This was my first Honor Mission with the PGR it was was just that-an HONOR. I was amazed at the number of PGRs that were present and the precision in which everything was handled. Being a cage member I want to apologize for making anyone 'cranky' which my misunderstanding of directions.
Meeting the PGR members we did in Davenport, Galesburg and on through Keithsburg were some of the most awesome people I can ever recall getting to know. You all did POC Tharp and his family very proud.
I look with respect to join all of you again on another mission.
    God bless each of you.
