EXTREMELY SHORT NOTICE
I’m sorry to report the loss of another Utah Vietnam Veteran. Dwight Colvin McDaniel, a Purple Heart recipient that served in Vietnam and later worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs, passed away April 23rd. Memorial services will be at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, April 29th, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.

Location: Savers Parking Lot, 4161 S. Redwood Rd.

Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God,

And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,

And I never passed a cry for help,

May God Bless Vietnam Veteran Dwight C. McDaniel , His family and friends. My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones while they cope with their great loss. I pray that the good lord above can provide comfort in your time of healing from the loss of this honorable soldier.
While I would be honored to stand the flag line for Dwight, unfortunately other commitments will require that I be standing in heart & mind instead. God Bless. |

| I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this American Hero who stood tall for their homeland in this very sad time in your lives, but remember that you knew a hero first hand while the rest of us just get to hear about their heroic deeds. My prayers are that our GOD may bring peace and comfort to all of you during this tragic time. I want you to know that not just me , but a country full of people like me owe you a debt that can never be repaid. But please know that your loved one is now serving in the Army of our LORD in heaven, and the LORD said if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you unto myself that where I am there you may be also. No one can ever say that your loved one isn't a HERO, they were willing to serve that the rest of us may enjoy the freedom we do today, and the sacrifice you and your family have endured so our nation can remain the home of the free because of the brave. As time grows longer, the list of those of us who served in Viet-Nam grows shorter.
We knew the planting of the seeds of patriotism in the spring of our childhood; the summer of our youth was the growth of our ideals, our strength and our service to our country; in the autumn of our lives we have reflected upon how times have changed, and how the warriors of today receive the honor due them instead of being reviled as were we when we returned - and winter brings with it the end of our service and our time.
Yet beneath that cold, yet kindly winter shroud lies the memory of a nation now grateful for what we did, and how we coped with how we were treated; a memory which shall never, never be lost to generations yet to come.
In loving memory of your service, the service of another of us who went over as strangers but returned as brothers, I am bound by honor, bound by love, bound by the bonds of brotherhood we share though we never met to be allowed -no, to DEMAND the honor of standing with that noble banner under which we so willingly served so long ago, in final tribute to yet another brother as you pass silently by in your last review.
We of the Patriot Guard, with Pride, Gratitude and Respect, shall never forget your service and your love of country.
Hold a place in your squad for me, Dwight, for I am old, and shall soon join you. We'll swap some stories, share some memories and prepare to receive those who shall, surely but sadly, come to follow us. |
