I was lucky enough to serve with Grit in the Philippines and Germany, he was a tremendous person and a great American. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by everyone he touched in his life. Always a smile and would give you the shirt off his back. He served his country for more than his time in the Navy as he worked in the Defense industry after he retired from the Navy. I wish I could be there to ride but I know Red F and Ronnie Y will help to provide Grit the send off he deserves. Fair winds and calm seas Grit. I will miss you.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Arne.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

FROM BETTY (GRIFFIN) MADISON: Good morning all of you wonderful friends of my brother. I am glad that while away from Mississippi. Arne had such a wonderful, caring group of people to work and share time with. Arne had made the trip home to Mississppi many, many times. This time was different. He was moving HOME-all kit and kabutal. Well, the kit got here and stayed. I guess the kabutal had a higher calling. I am trying to make light of the happenings over the last few days...but I am REALLY NOT HAPPY. The brightness to all this is the wonderful e-mails I have gotten (we as a family). I agree with all of you he was a wonderful guy, a wonderful caring friend, brother, uncle, husband, and father. He has touched and given throughout his life to so many just within his family. Now I hear he was this way as a person to all. (Our mother did good, didn't she), He would give you the shirt off his back. Now the smile all the time... You all must not have seen him the day I moved OUR car (we split weeks to drive-him one week, me the next) from one parking space to another on his week or the resulting broken window from a well thrown bottle. I, of course, was innocently sitting in the passenger sit. As I remember that was just one of several car windows he had to buy that summer. Did you all know, If you slam a car door hard the window will break? I, of course, am innocent of being an instigator. In case a thank you does not reach each and every one of you personally, thank you for everything, thank you for dealing with this e-mail from a friend's sister who can't sleep, thank you for being there for Arne. OK I am going to try to get some sleep. Thank you all again, From all of the Griffin clan. Betty Griffin Madison

This brave man answered the call of his country and his sacrifice will not be forgotten.
