*********************FINAL ITINERARY***********************
Scouted the area today and, as previously announced, staging will be at 1130 in the area just outside of Middlebourne, on the left hand side of the road. Those approaching on Route 18 South, this is located a short distance past the Witchey's Supermarket on your right. Those coming in on Route 18 North, proceed through town and we'll be located on the right hand side of the road, just before the city Cemetery.
Permission has been received to park directly across from the funeral home.
We will do our briefing at 1145, then ride in to be in our flag line NLT 1200. Funeral services are expected to last approximately 30 minutes, after which we will provide escort to the cemetery. This is a distance of about 20 miles and, at present time, will be done under escort by the Tyler County Sheriff's Department.
For all those travelling in on two wheels on Route 18 South, PLEASE be extra cautious when approaching the clearly marked Detour. The turn into this is marked at 15MPH and goes onto a temporary bridge that has a STEEL BOTTOM. This could be slippery in the morning.
Anyone coming in on Route 18 from either direction that is unfamiliar with this road, please be aware that it contains many, many curves, most of which are posted with a recommended 'safe' speed. The vast majority of these curves mean exactly that. Please exercise caution.
All out of state attendees, remember, West Virginia IS a helmet state!
Thank you for support in honoring this American War Veteran. Respects, Joe

******************ITINERARY UPDATE*********************
I spoke with the funeral director this afternoon and he states the family would be honored to have our presence at their Father's funeral services. They have also indicated their desire to have us provide escort from the funeral home to his final resting.
Services will be held at 1300 at the Furbee Funeral Home, 217 Main St., Middlebourne, WV 26149 (304) 758-2166.
Staging will be at 1130 on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 with briefing at 1145 and flag line set up NLT 1200. Staging location will be confirmed and posted after speaking with LEO tomorrow morning.
Interment will be in Friendly Cemetery, Friendly, WV which is located approximately 5 miles South of Sistersville, WV. From Middlebourne to Friendly Cemetery is approximately 22 miles so those on two wheels, please dress accordingly. Road to cemetery is VERY hilly and curvy so extreme caution is in order. I will scout the area tomorrow (Monday) for suitable parking.
Directions to Middlebourne, WV: Coming down from the North - Get on WV Route 2 South, proceed through New Martinsville, WV. South of New Martinsville, approximately 2 miles, is WV Route 180 (left turn). Follow Route 180 until it ends, approximately 8 miles or so, then turn left on WV Route 18 toward Middlebourne. As you enter Middlebourne, speed limit drops to 25 mph (enforced). Furbee Funeral Home will be on your left on the main street of town.
Coming up from the South - Follow WV Route 2 North, through Friendly and on to Sistersville, WV. As you enter Sistersville, speed limit drops to 35 mph and you will see the local golf course on your left. At the top of the grade is a cloverleaf. Turn Right on Route 18 South and follow directions as above.
Coming from the West - Get on WV Route 2, North or South depending on your direction of approach, and follow above directions accordingly.
Coming from the East - If on U.S. Route 50, exit on WV Route 18 North and proceed through West Union on into Middlebourne. Furbee Funeral Home will be on your RIGHT on the main street of town.
According to the funeral director, Jim's family is very excited about our participation and escort in his final services. If at all possible, please make every effort to attend to stand in Honor for one of this country's past Heroes.
Watch this thread for updated information as it becomes available. Respects, Joe

**********************STAGING INFORMATION*********************
Due to the limited space available at the funeral home, we will stage OUTSIDE of Middlebourne by the local cemetery. Discussion with the Funeral Director indicates there is a very large area alongside WV Route 18 that will accomodate us for staging purposes. I will be in this location NLT 1100 Tuesday morning. Those coming in from the East, go all the way through town and look for me on the right hand side as you exit the town proper.
After the briefing, we will proceed to the area directly across the street from Furbee Funeral Home, in front of the old Main Street Garage. The owner has given us permission to park there, saying he has an area approximately 92 feet long in front of his business that we are welcome to use. He will move any items from in front of the business prior to our arrival.
The current weather forecast for Monday night and Tuesday is calling for low temperatures of 25 with a 20% chance of isolated snow showers and partly sunny skies for Tuesday with temperatures around 50. |

Riding in honor of our nephew, Hospitalman Apprentice Gary T. Frost, U.S. Navy, 05/16/74 - 12/04/94 -------- What Heroes Gave
Each donned their uniform to be Defenders of our liberty
Their mission sure, their spirits bright Guard freedom’s home, be brave to fight
One final day each faced their call Each gave their best enduring all
We’ll never know what they went through But know they loved this country true
Deep down inside we should all feel What heroes gave, their cost so real
We must stay thankful, grateful of The gift of freedom through their love
Their loved ones bore the gravest pain What we can’t know, some now sustain
To God I pray their pain will cease And each will find long-lasting peace
Remember this from year to year What heroes gave – shan’t disappear
We’ll never let their special day Their time for honor slip away
