To the family of Pfc. Given...
What words could possibly help during a time like this…
When we know not what we should pray for as we ought, the Spirit maketh intercessions for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26
So let not your heart be troubled, for your loved one has gone to the place which Jesus has prepared.
Stand down soldier, your mission here is complete.

It saddens me to know that another has fallen, knowing that freedom carries a stiff price, but also knowing that those who serve may pay that price. I am honored to live in a country where others will serve and protect, trying to make the world a better place.

I know that no honor we can convey, no tribute we can perform, and no words we can speak can adequately say how grateful we are that Nathaniel served his country, and how sad we are that he has fallen. If we are called upon to honor this fallen soldier, I plan to be there to show what respect that I can.

Standing by in Rosenberg.

I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Nathaniel Given. Your watch is over and your comrades who have gone before you have welcomed you into heaven. Everyone in this country should honor you and your fellow soldier from the 4th Battalion for your ultimate sacrifice in protecting our nation’s freedom from those who would cause terror against us. We take so much for granted in our day-to-day lives, but we must never forget the thousands of soldiers and airman who are deployed in foreign countries; fighting to protect our freedom. In memory of Sgt. Robert Kassin, Sgt. Leroy Segura and Captain Kermit Evans; along with the many men and women deployed from Cannon AFB, you are all heroes and thank you for protecting our country.
